First gig I went to with my then girlfriend in the late nineties.
First gig I went to with my son (and also my now wife) two years ago.
Seem really sound.
To be fair, Ed Davey falling off stuff into water got him on the front pages whereas the Lib Dems were deliberately ignored by every single broadcaster and print rag until then.
Not "political" but did get Lib Dems elected. Which is the important bit if you want to actually change anything.
I know. Always banging on about the Alamo. It was 200 years ago, give it a rest.
I got a slide/negative scanner from the known/big corp. Software used to work for about an hour before just deciding it wouldn't work and needed a full system reboot to continue scanning.
Annoyed me so much I stopped using it.
Downloaded an indie scanning app, 2 maintainers/devs? Works perfectly.
The number of times on my wife's work computer I had to restart the print spooler from task manager to get it to print was unreal.
"Why do you need to do that?"
"Because somebody somewhere along the Microsoft-Toshiba-HP development line is a fucking moron."
I love the idea that *this* US government, which has been nabbing landscapers and five year olds knows where Iranian sleeper cells are but just hasnβt gotten around to doing anything about it yet.
Because what will cut bills is not being reliant on oil and gas
"Tom, I notice you've chosen the word 'savage' to describe the notoriously polite Green Party?"
"Yes"
"Savage - as in 'savage attack' and 'the dog savaged his owner'?"
"Yes"
"And what have they suggested that made you think that was an appropriate adjective?"
"Taxing billionaires"
"Fuck off Tom"
Quick! What kinda scientist would you want to be?
When I worked in rail (as office bod, in an engineering consultancy so nowhere near track, ever) we were all signed up to the rail alcohol regs (as solidarity) and the reminder was "you can legally drive to work and still be sent home when you get here"

"and it matters more than most people realise"?
Does it though Matt? Does it really?
I've literally no idea who is on which note, and the only time it enters my consciousness is when some blowhard right wing wet wipe kicks off every time a change is suggested.
Are you not so fascinated by the "premium" article that is probably just a rehash of the Fentimans Wikipedia page that you'd pay for it?
Hegseth says Iranβs missile volume is down 90%, while its one-way attack drones were down 95% yesterday. Iran does not have the ability to build any more weapons, he adds. The US is βdealing withβ Iranβs attacks in the strait of Hormuz and it is something that does not need to be worried about, Hegseth says, adding: Their production lines, their military plants, their defence innovation centres; defeated. Iranβs leadership is in no better shape.
If you were writing a screenplay you wouldn't dream of giving the protagonist this level hubristic foreshadowing
Fair point
How's the Reach plc paywall experiment going over at the Chronicle?
Not terribly well if it can be defeated by clicking reader mode in the browser.

I want this on a t shirt.
Morning!
I hear all the time about how 'it's different now' for kids, all the tech available, how we can't imagine what jobs there'll be 10yrs from now.
But kids have not stopped loving exploring the woods, getting muddy, throwing, climbing, being read to, being wild. Kids still need love, attention, hugs.

Whoa, where's that?
Your top speed should be inversely proportional to the mass of your vehicle.
Friends who taught in Thailand for a few years learnt Thai which helped them navigate this, and gave them a little more authority when ordering.
"Nit noi" - a little (Thai) spicy. Farang spicy would be less so.
Don't know the guy, never met the guy, sure he's absolutely lovely.
That said, does look the sort who, six months into the job, gets escorted off the premises after a no biscuits meeting with HR, whose reason for departure is undisclosed and entire existence is never mentioned again.
