Hereβs a photo of just one voting paper which shows how the single transferable vote in proportional representation works in Irish elections. Other countries electorates are amateurs by comparison! Pencils, papers & complete transparency.
Polls close in 90 mins.

100 followers BlueSky seems worth marking, although randomly I seem to have gained a disproportionately Turkish following (especially relating to Turkish analysis of International Relations)

Spider-hunting Wasps are a fascinating family (Pompilidae) of wasps in Ireland. The largest example of the family here is Priocnemis pertubator (Bristly-legged Spider Hunting Wasp). They are also one of the first of the Pompilidae to emerge each year, normally around April.
The replies are essentially a starter pack of NI women you should be making space for in your feed (both the nominated and some of the women nominating)

A black and white image of former UTV political editor Ken Reid in a suit and tie.
Tributes are being paid to veteran journalist Ken Reid, after his family confirmed his death at the age of 69.
Best known as the long-serving political editor of UTV, he has been described as a βtowering figure in broadcasting in Northern Irelandβ.

Don't get me wrong, investment in Belfast's public transport services is positive (even if I do have lots of opinions about this new station!), but I can understand why people west of the Bann will be frustrated to see headlines like this while preexisting stations/bus routes in Belfast are upgraded
There is money out there - just not for public transport in the west, it seems.
It would be so great if you could RT my Etsy shop in the twoots below/above. Myπ² jewellery orders usually make up a significant part of my income at this time of yr but the X exodus has meant Iβve only received 1 order-pretty scary income-wise. A small boost would help so much. ThankyouπΏ

CAN I BE IN YOUR STARTER PACK PLEASE
Happy to help

I will reach my final form (Derry Larophile) eventually πππ
I know it's a little early for an advert on here but this evening I'll be opening my Etsy shop (silverpebble) to take orders forπ².
I cast real flowers & nature finds in recycled silver & make tiny wearable versions of much-loved bird species.
I'll link to my shop this evening...I ship anywhereπΏ

A question for the roughly 1200 new followers I've gained in the last week...
1. What is your favourite invertebrate? (You don't need to choose from the photos below).
2. Why?
Also parasitic wasps - so diverse and they have such crazy adaptations. Specifically Ruby-Tailed Wasps though, because they really challenge people's perceptions of insects
bird sounds

Research shows that simply looking at the fractal patterns in nature shifts our brains away from fight or flight & into rest/digest mode, alleviating anxiety & helping us recover from stress more quickly.
