Heck! We even have Pride events at work! ♡ seeing my boss wear pride work socks made me so happy! It was not a reality I ever dared to dream of!

The overhanging threat of having violence done upon you for just....wearing worn clothes or having dark eyes and hair (to neo nazis back then,my dark hair was enough to cast doubt on if I was "Swedish enough" ) I feel safewalking outside today, in a way I never did as a child.

XD the second hand embarassment of the swedish Eurovision participants, did not kill me!

The last 6 years have been tough, no doubt, and I worry what prospects await my nieces and nephews...But they have grown into kind, respectful and empathetic humans....and that has to be the most important thing. Kindness and human decency.

The 90s in sweden was, for me and many other: the overhanging threat of neo nazis with their steel toe boots and bomber jackets, running you down after school and beating you up. Kids adopted from other countries being relentlessly bullied and yeah...lgbtq kids suffering much the same.

Lucky for me, I got some REALL good teachers in 6th to 9th grade and that, along with internet and videogames and the discovery of Yaoi/Yuri saved my life.

The only time I was told anything about "Homophiles" was if someone acted "unfavorably" they were described as "Dykes" (flator) or "faggots" (bögar) and if a woman did not throw herself at a man she was a cock-scared psycho feminist...and there I was. Trying to figgure out what the hell I was.

It is my honest oppinion that people should atleast read about critical thinking, in SCHOOL before being allowed internet access at all. I grew up outside a small town in sweden, oldest daughter and I was never given a chance to explore my inner life. Farming to be done. Parents divorcing.

My experience of the 90s was awful, full of terror of being percieved as different and the violence it might bring about. I was so poorly informed about my own sexuality and my position as a woman. I lived like a scared animal. The 2000s has been a blessing...untill the last 4 years...
