Last week, MTPD officers responded to a BRT platform for an elderly man with medical conditions who requested assistance to get to the Dorothy Day Center. Officers transported him & helped him up to his room, because it’s always worth a little extra time to treat people with kindness and respect.

MTPD's Homeless Action Team (HAT) holds outreach events every Wed. from 1-4 pm at Franklin Station & every Fri. at Central Station from 4-7 pm. Last Friday, with the help of Ramsey County & community volunteers, HAT helped over 185 during their event. As long as there is a need, HAT will be there.

During last week’s winter storm, MTPD officers spotted a vehicle stuck in heavy snow, struggling to get free. Without hesitation, they helped the motorist dig out, and got them safely back on their way. Stay safe out there and drive carefully in these snowy conditions – or better yet, take transit!

The Homeless Action Team was joined by a host of partners for a snowy outreach session this weekend, including partners from the City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County Government, & Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans. As long as there is a need, HAT and our partners will be there to help!
Last night, an unsheltered man with wet socks and shoes connected with the Homeless Action Team (HAT) during their weekly outreach event. HAT member Joshua Watson was able to fit him with new socks and boots, just in time for a particularly frigid night.
As a member of our Homeless Action Team, Officer Kompelien will bring invaluable experience during her 3-year term as she works with partners to help create and implement cost-effective solutions to ending homelessness. Congrats again, Officer Kompelien! Your dedication is an inspiration to all.

Officers Nelson & Jacka went above and beyond when they assisted a woman who had been transported to the hospital. The woman had a service dog, and, they ensured the animal was transported safely so they could be reunited at the hospital. Their compassion truly reflects the values of our department.

For Lt. Pehrson, Veterans Day is a chance to reflect on military service and how those who volunteered to fight shaped the course of our nation.
He credits his experience as a field team leader in the Marines for helping him develop the leadership skills he still uses as part of our command staff.
Lt. Pehrson also joined the Marine Corps right after high school and served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He always knew that he was interested in becoming a police officer. After leaving the Marines, he was hired at MTPD as a CSO, finished his law enforcement schooling, and has been here ever since.
From there it was on to Hawaii, where he became a weapons instructor, training other soldiers on proper use of firearms. As a member of MTPD’s Training Unit, those are skills he continues to use to this day.
Lt. Keyes enlisted in the Marine Corps at age 17.
“I always joke that I was a recruiter’s dream because I just walked in and said, ‘sign me up,’” said Lt. Keyes.
After completing high school, it was off to Camp Lejune in North Carolina for boot camp, followed by a 2-year deployment in Japan.

Another MTPD good deed caught on camera! Officer Vang was recently spotted helping a citizen get to their destination, personally pushing the wheelchair-using person from Franklin and Elliot to the ALDI store at Franklin and 14th, a trip of about four blocks. Thank you, Officer Vang!

While on patrol at Fremont Ave N. and Broadway earlier this week, MTPD officers observed a unoccupied vehicle in the middle of the road. They found the owner and learned that she had ran out of gas. The officers helped push the vehicle into a safe place while she waiting for her tow.
