“I will do it tomorrow,” said Toad. “Today I will take life easy.”
So let me get this straight ...
1. US bombs Iran
2. Oil price goes up a bit, benefitting Russia's petrostate
3. Russia gives Iran targeting info
4. Oil price shoots WAY up
5. US unsanctions Russian oil
One thing I hate about all the defenses of Platner is the underlying, deeply dumb and destructive belief that it's all about casting. Wanted: Rugged bearded tell-it-like-it-is oysterman to appeal to the great anxious white center, the holy grail of politics. Further details not of immense concern. >
NEW: Believe it or not, it’s that time of year: the Wisconsin Supreme Court election is next month.
Liberals have a huge opportunity: if they win, they can lock down the majority of this court thru 2030.
That means they’d have it in the next presidential race, a big democracy guardrail.

“One way to look at the rise of Donald Trump is as part of a decades-long backlash among the American leadership class to the idea of accountability,” @adamserwer.bsky.social argues:
It implies exactly what you think it implies
Mullin won office in 2022 in a special election (to replace Inhofe) with only 61.8% of the vote in a R+1 or R+2 environment. Doesn’t seem totally implausible to me that a swing to D+10 or D+12 could flip the seat.
feels like a minute since i have pointed out that donald trump has pardoned more child sex offenders than every other president of the united states combined
PEPFAR, the program to stop hundreds of thousands of children and adults from dying of HIV/AIDS, was $6.5 billion a year.
Chotiner: You've made the claim that no one has ever fed you in your life.
My Cat: Maow.
Chotiner: Yet there's food in your dish right now.
My Cat: Maow.
Chotiner: Let's change the subject to the ripped-open bag of sandwich bread on the floor.
My Cat: Maow.
Chotiner: I have read different things.

For all the but how can we afford space exploration folks…this means we’ve already spent more on this war that started last week than Cassini cost in the 26 years it took to build, launch, and operate it.
Iran-Contra happened 40 years ago! It *literally* involved the US selling weapons to... Iran.
So, the argument is we were funding the armed forces of a country we were at war with?
NEW: Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold (D) says Tina Peters "should get no special treatment" from Governor Jared Polis (D), calling Polis' statement hinting at clemency for Peters "shocking and worrisome." Griswold statement below.
NEW: Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser (D) says Gov Jared Polis (D) offering clemency to Tina Peters "would be a grave miscarriage of justice and dangerous for free and fair elections."
The IRIS Dena, a prized destroyer in the Iranian Navy, had participated in an international naval exercise in India last month. The ship had been making its way back toward Iran from Visakhapatnam, a city in India where the joint exercise ended on Feb. 25. The United States was among the many participants in the drills.
so the US Navy fired on and sank a vessel returning home from a joint exercise that the US Navy also participated in ... is that skating kinda close to the line of perfidy? www.nytimes.com/2026/03/04/w...
The authority that Trump has asserted in taking America to war against Iran is, like many of his other power grabs, an expression of the very tyranny the Framers were seeking to prevent. “Kings had always been involving and impoverishing their people in wars, pretending generally, if not always, that the good of the people was the object,” a young congressman named Abraham Lincoln wrote in 1848. This was “understood to be the most oppressive of all Kingly oppressions and they resolved to so frame the Constitution that no one man should hold the power of bringing this oppression upon us.” This quote, incidentally, is immortalized on the House’s website, if any members of Congress are looking for it.
The design of the Constitution divided warmaking authority between Congress and the executive to prevent a president to take the country to war by themselves for any petty or self-serving reason. You know, like a king would. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
Not gonna share the video of Republican US Senator Tim Sheehy breaking a protesting Marine's hand, but you can find it on @charlotteclymer.bsky.social's timeline.
I'll just say that in a functional country, Sheehy would be expelled by the Senate.
Democratic Senators should publicly push for that.
Who else might that be said of?
I wish I loved anything as much as Montana Congressional Republicans love beating people up for exercising First Amendment rights.
That’s a nice sentiment and all but Trump is going to pardon everyone for everything so unless you nail them on state crimes there will not, in fact, be any accountability at all
