It is critically important for the entire planet to stop relying on the US for literally anything whatsoever. The dollar needs to go, US security & infrastructure needs to go, the UN and NATO need to be reformed - everything the US has disproportionate influence in needs to be fixed.
When I think about saving endangered species, I usually have in mind the black rhino or giant panda, not measles or polio.
