Here is a long story in the Columbia Spectator on Richard Axel's involvement with Epstein

Wild.
Unfortunately we should expect retaliation in the form of cyberattacks on healthcare infrastructure in the coming months.
Following the dissolution of USAID what is emerging to replace it are exploitative one-sided deals proposing the exchange of aid dollars for sensitive health data, lack of reciprocal benefit and agreements that bypass multilateral frameworks.

Iβll leave this here since apparently we seem to have a problem with finding evidence.

There wonβt be an accounting of the lives Axel ruined through his own sexual harassment. Heβs guilty of more than poor judgement.
I just heard from another Columbia classmate with a link to the Axel Epstein article saying βSo unsurprising. We all knew.β
I have a male friend who spent some time in Axel's lab. About the 3rd conversation he had with Axel, Axel broke the ice with "So, have you fucked [a female postdoc in the lab] yet?"
My friend was horrified...
Iβm sorry that happened to you. Columbia has been harboring horrible men like this for decades. And yet he will continue to do research & be on faculty.
Here to lend support. Like I said, I wondered how many other women noticed and resented this. I know Nancy and I werenβt the only ones who did.

Why is it so difficult for the academic community to find evidence? π

It has been quietly known for years that Nobel Laureate Neuroscientist Richard Axel was a predator.
The real story is how no one in the scientific/academic community spoke up about it until now.
www.nytimes.com/2026/02/25/n...
He still runs a lab according to the piece. That canβt be safe for anybody. Much less for women.
Gift link from the NYT story about Axel and Epstein. When I was at Columbia he ran a lab where sexual harassment of women was business as usual. We all knew. We all warned each other.

Breaking:
Richard Axel, a Nobel Prize-winning scientist and professor, just announced that he was resigning as a co-director of a flagship neuroscience institute at Columbia University because of his friendship with Jeffery Epstein.
www.nytimes.com/2026/02/25/n...
This, of course, is not surprising. What is surprising is lack of mention of his other Columbia colleagues who accompanied him to Epstein initiated events AND how factions at Columbia neuroscience continued to woo Epstein (eg β¬οΈ) long AFTER his first conviction of procuring a child for prostitution
The real story here is how the scientific community knew about Axel and did nothing. And the lengths Columbia University has gone to protect Axel.
Columbiaβs statement βfound no evidence of wrongdoing," and he is still allowed to keep his lab.
