But can you run up and down the wing for 90 mins? ;)
Still time to sign this.
Football is for all
Fab day and well managed. Seeing the confidence grow in a few of your players as the tournament went on was amazing.
Maybe we should do it again
It was simply an amazing day with members from the last 25 years coming together as the family we are.
Football is for all
We had a team led by @bernietranders.bsky.social with a strong trans representation & in his own words may make him the first trans manager in a walking football event.
Aswell as another team of mostly original members finishing runners up. One had never kicked a ball after a hip replacement.
We also had The Old Contemptibles comprised of founding members.
They thought they'd never play again and yet here they did.
It was just brilliant to see them play once more and scored a load of goals
The winners were Rupa Troopers, named after a member who lost their battle to cancer last year. The team itself had many friends of hers
Footers was special to Rupa aher her to us so we named the best goalkeeper after her
The Rupa Sarkar award went to Theo, who at 61 defied the years.
Yesterday we hosted, what we believe is a world first LGBTQ walking football tournament in aid of our 25th birthday.
The idea meant many original members from 1999 now into their 60s could play with and against current members.
We represented all pillars of the community with 54 players in total
A team of seven footballers standing in front of a 5 a side goal. Theyβre all male, of varying heights, and are wearing the same blue, orange and white shirt.
Super proud to have managed a team at (what we think is) the worldβs first LGBTQ+ walking football tournament for @leftfooters.bsky.socialβs 25th birthday yesterday!
If it is the first, that makes me the first trans manager in an lgbtq+ walking football tournament, which is niche, but Iβll take it
25 Today.
Sunday 21st November 1999 this club was founded by Neil Caulfield.
Our ethos was to be a safe & welcoming space to play sport. Never picking a team on ability alone while giving people a chance to make new friends.
Our ethos remains as strong today as in 1999.
Football is for all
