I'm not saying we should. Should we defend NATO allies who have not been involved if they are attacked?

Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar,UAE, all have territorial waters within range and many nato countries have relationships with them.

Let's say Italy has a Navy ship sunk by Iran. They have not participated in hostilities. They ask for help from NATO because of that. Do we say no? This is such a mess. I don't know what the right answer is.
