A detail from a sixteenth-century alchemy printed, hand-colored, title page shwoing a man in a room working with stones and metals and other alchemic stuff placed on a table. However, the eyeglasses are positioned at the other end of the table. The source is: "Rechter Gebrauch d' Alchimei Mitt vil bißher verborgenen nutzbaren vnnd lustigen Künsten..." (1531), VD16 R 492.
Even the best #earlymodern alchemists forgot sometimes, while working the secrets of their art, where they've put their bloody eyeglasses to see better what exactly they were mixing in front of them ...
Think it’s time for billionaires to learn that their wealth being taxed is in fact the most moderate solution to society’s billionaire problem.
The AI "race" is a race to the bottom. To be profitable, companies will be motivated to agree to the terms of the highest bidder, leading to serious social repercussions. No amount of "safety and transparency policies" should convince us otherwise. 🧵

It was my great honour to interview the one and only Francesca Albanese yesterday. Watch here, and find out why Trump and Rubio are so determined to stop her vital work:

Painting of a girl holding her clothing (purplish) in a windy landscape. Grass, trees in distance, yellow flowers in her hair.

And virgin daisies splash the fields with white,
Let bloom the poppy hotly as it may,
Within my heart is melancholy night.'

A screenshot of ebook "Turns of Fate" by Anne Bishop. Text: "(...) because it was always possible that Bonnie would find someone in authority who would agree with her-or agree just enough to cahse some trouble. As one of Beth's classmates at the academy had pointed out, just because an idea was wackadoodle didn't mean there wouldn't be people who agreed with it-especially if it provided an excuse to demean, hurt, or control another group of people. And Bonnie saw Beth as a cash cow she wanted to control."

"Is there technology the left is excited about?" is the kind of question you only ask if you're wildly naive about technology.

But god forbid we're not fawning over every new implementation of Making Computers Bad At Math.
In the last two days I've watched two movies based on books I absolutely adore.
The new "Wuthering Heights" made me want to put my eyes out.
The rewatch of "Tale of Tales" has reminded me why I love movies and books so much. 11 years after it came out, it's still stunning.

Sitting on a couch in Poland, watching a video game stream for charity, feels just abstract right now.

Answering emails sucks, but I make it suck a little less by putting on ambient music and soundscapes and saying "today I'm answering emails from a Victorian greenhouse in a rainstorm" or "today I'm answering emails from a space station"
It's absolutely gorgeous art! 😍😍😍
Commissioned illustration of two women sharing a passionate kiss in an alleyway of a town, bathed in moonlight. Wisteria has a doll body that is quite thin and light in build, made of porcelain, with brass-like metal for the joints, luminous eyes and blonde hair. Lapis is a female drow with white flowing hair down to her waist. She is quite busty and is wearing an ornate red and black dress. Wisteria is keeping Lapis' hands above her head as she kisses her <3

Today is Old Wassail and Here's to thee, old apple tree...
Some places have very, very old wassailing customs, though, and we go to the West Country on Old Twelvey to witness such a one in our 11th #winterfolklore tale.
Read it below.

I cannot wait for that novel! 💜 The graphic is just stunning.
I don't really need those things, but I plan to pay for them anyhow, because you deserve all the support possible ❤️
In 1943 Knut Hamsun gave his medal to Goebbels. History doesn’t repeat but it rhymes.
Here’s to the Nobel committee for posting this bit of history yesterday

Today is my birthday!
As always, one of the best gifts for artists is sharing their art🖤
Thank you for all the support throughout the years!
