Got verbally lit up by a small group of fans in the Metroid Community Discord for daring to bring real-world SCIENCE into my theories surrounding Metroid Prime 4.

It honestly never occurred to me that science-hating fans of a sci-fi game franchise even existed.

SirCrossPad would run an anachronistic arcade full of retro style games.

This was me while playing Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, trying to absorb every tiny detail in the visual design and scans to decode the game’s amazing bespoke story. The first major alien lore scan even encourages this approach.

Yet all the reviews said they blasted through the game in 10 hours or less.

The Fates titles are the only FE games released in the US I bought but never finished.

Way too much fetish bait and toxic anime tropes for me to stomach. 😬 Plus the whole Pokemon-like version ploy was a very unwelcome change to the franchise’s sales and marketing.

The sound design in Sol Valley in Metroid Prime 4 is a perfect example of this. The howling voices of the damned are hauntingly deliberate sound design, because Planet Viewros itself is suspended in a state of Purgatory, beyond space-time.

The grid is small enough in most of the stages where the game would have been worse off for including them,IMO. My main criticism is the complete exclusion of support conversations, even though the support gameplay mechanics are still included.

Still a 9/10 game for me, though.

I think it was Metroid Prime 4 and its insane bespoke narrative that went over everyone’s heads because it demands knowledge of black hole theory, quantum physics, various world religions, and deep understanding of the lore from Prime 1,2,& 3 to fully comprehend its glory.

Love that game!
