Also now he seems to think the Iranians are going to remove the mines. What with? Are the IRGC lining up on the shore in their budgie smugglers?

in response to a survey saying 1 in 8 men think they could win a point against Serena Williams:
"Confident in my ability to properly tennis, I take the court. I smile at my opponent. Serena does not return the gesture. She'd be prettier if she did, I think. She serves. The ball passes cleanly through my skull, killing me instantly "

Literal case of 'your mileage may vary'.
EVs are less complex than ICE. Now the tech is mature, they are more reliable. A hybrid with both E & ICE powertrains is more complex than either.
EV range is now in the hundreds of km, so unless you regularly go further, they are likely to be the best option

Absolutely shameful. And yet Labour still wonders why its voters are deserting it.

I've got about 10 different trips sketched out. I'm planning them a lot faster than I'm taking them!

I imagine the range on that one is very large - from dilapidated coal-powered ex-Soviet systems to fancy-pants Scandinavian ground-source heat pump systems.

Does that use a lot of energy?

It happens that I've just been playing with this comparison tool. e-bikes are so incredibly efficient compared to just about anything else!

No doubt the russians already have examples of these from the battlefield in Ukraine. I just hope Zelenskyy got payment upfront

I'm somewhat involved in it (heat pump installer) and the rate of change makes my head spin.

The energy transition keeps turning out statistics that seem unbelievable, but then they check out.
It's the largest and fastest energy transition in history, by far. The deranged behaviour of the fossil industry and their bought politicians would be funny if it wasn't so murderous.

08.03.2026 18:33 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

More actual policy on continental Europe than in the UK, but the UK seems to be simply riding an energy transition driven by economic forces (in electricity anyway), which is rapidly leading to the same destination.

I am Kate Morley I live in the south-west of England with my wife Clare. I’m a director at it’seeze, and a member of the board of trustees for Proud2Be.

It will likely be in most of our lifetimes. In terms of electricity, fossil accounted for 29% of our electricity in 2025, down from 52% in 2015 (source iamkate.com - her site is the most intuitive, but the data is from NESO).
Transport & heating are further behind, but also changing fast.

The best time to have leaned into a rapid rollout of heat pumps was 5 years ago. The next best time is now.

I hope they will think that. I don't think it's guaranteed that they will hold the line.

It's inevitable, the fundamentals of economics & security demand it, and the public is 2:1 in favour. So why the performance of reluctance from Labour?
