One of two screenshots of an email: CMG Pediatrics Bulletin 11.23.25 On the CDC's Vaccine Safety Messaging The CDC this week changed the vaccine safety portion of its website to suggest there may be a link between vaccines and autism. This change was not made because there is new data to support the claim - in fact, no such data exists. Rather, it seems the CDC's public stance on vaccine safety has been changed to reflect the personal beliefs of the current Secretary of HHS, RFK Jr. The vaccine safety issue has been studied vigorously and repeatedly since 1998, when a fraudulent case series was published alleging a possible link between the MMR vaccine and autism. That case series was subsequently retracted, and its author lost his medical license. 40 studies across multiple countries involving millions of patients ensued. None has shown a link between any vaccine and autism.
The second of two screenshots of an email: The American Academy of Pediatrics and a joint group of leading medical organizations have issued statements contradicting the CDC's messaging. We agree with these organizations. CMG will not be changing its stance on routine pediatric vaccination. The politicization of the CDC means that it's guidance cannot be uniformly relied upon without independent review. Portions of its website do still reflect up-to-date science, such as the travel health sections. We will have to see whether this changes with time. If you are not sure whether you should rely on a particular piece of information from the CDC, please contact the office to discuss with one of our providers. The American Academy of Pediatrics remains a reliable source for science-based information. No CDC vaccine scientist has defended the CDC's new messaging. The scientists themselves were blindsided, and our hearts go out to them. They have spent careers serving the institution and the country selflessly and tirelessly, and for the time being their work has been set aside. They have our thanks, our sympathy, and our respect.
