Old Skies is winning a bunch of awards right now (just took Best Story at the Adventure Game Hotshots, for example), and if you haven't played it, you should, even if you're picky about point-and-click adventures. It's really pretty special within this genre.

There was some chatter about the Old Skies blooper and commentary reel here on BlueSky, so I made this little mini supercut version. It's only a tiny fraction of what appears within the game itself, but should give you an idea of what to expect! (e.g., everyone acting very very silly).
It did at first, but the AGS devs performed some wizardry that removed a lot of the memory restrictions. Unfortunately, I am pretty ignorant of the inner-workings of the engine.
When we ported to mobile, we exported everything to sprite sheets and loaded what we needed as we needed them. Fortunately most of our games are divided neatly into chapters with unique assets, so it's pretty easy to know in advance what sprites we will need.
Do you mean for creating the animation or for playing/storing it? You'd have to ask @threeohfour.bsky.social about the former, but AGS has always handled memory in a very stupid way. On PC it loads the entire frigging thing into memory. Though I think the most recent version has changed that.

Oh you said the broadway one. Yes that’s it. I say “east village” even though it’s like one block away from where the east village technically starts.
Oh my god there are so many restaurants I’d revisit if I had a time machine. Especially in that neighborhood.
There used to be one on 9th and Broadway till around December of 2013. It was around the corner from Brittany! After it closed it turned into a series of coffee shop chains (Teavana, Starbucks, now a Bean). Across the street was another old school staple - a Blockbuster Video!
Oftentimes I reference specific NYC locations purely for my own benefit/amusement (because I used to live near them or visit them often), but it’s always gratifying when a player gets what I’m referencing.

Oh NO WAY. Hah! Finally someone gets the Silver Spurs reference. I used to live in the Randall House building, right above Silver Spurs. Ate there more often than I can count as a result. And my apartment window looked down on the Brittany House. I wear my influences in my sleeve.
