Multiple independent acquisitions of ACE2 usage in MERS-related coronaviruses Two coronaviruses related to MERS-CoV, which infect European Pipistrellus bats, have been found to use ACE2 as their receptor. These viruses target an ACE2 surface region distant from those recognized...

Phylogenetic map of wildlife trade; graphs showing overlap with other traits like synanthropy; path analysis showing impact on zoonotic host status

Huge analysis out as a preprint today! For every 9 years an animal spends in the wildlife trade, it shares an additional pathogen with humans. Clear long-term impacts based on 40 years of global trade data πŸ§ͺ😷 biorxiv.org/content/earl...

Receptor-binding proteins from animal viruses are broadly compatible with human cell entry factors - Nature Microbiology Functional systematic pseudotype virus-based analysis of the ability of diverse animal viruses to enter into a panel of well-characterized human cell lines shows a broad compatibility between animal virus receptor-binding proteins and human cell entry factors.

Delighted to share with you our study published in Nature Microbiology. We studied the ability of the receptor-binding proteins (RBP) of >100 animal viruses to mediate entry into human cells.

Dipeptidase 1 is a functional receptor for coronavirus PHEV Coronaviruses of the subgenus Embecovirus include several relevant pathogens such as the human seasonal coronaviruses HKU1 and OC43, bovine coronavirus, and porcine hemagglutinating encephalomyelitis ...

I am thrilled to share our last preprint where we identify and characterize a new coronavirus receptor! This work was done in collaboration with the team of FΓ©lix Rey at the Institut Pasteur.
