82 days is 81 days too long to notify parents about an incident of sexual abuse at a daycare centre.
5 months is an egregious time to wait for the UCP to take action.

This is why Albertaβs New Democrats are again asking Minister Nicolaides and the UCP government to make changes to the Early Learning and Child Care Act, with hope they will do so with urgency, and before the legislative session concludes in May.
βA childβs safety is the top consideration in every decision a parent makesβ¦When it comes to child care, having access to a programβs history and confidence in receiving timely notifications is essential.β - @dianabatten.bsky.social
3. A mandated regular review of the Early Learning and Child Care Act, to ensure future identified gaps can be addressed and updated as required.
A childβs safety is the top consideration in every decision a parent makes.
2. The creation of a public online portal to access a child care programβs full history.
This would include inspection reports, incident history, and information on licenses are all accessible in one place.
1. Changes to the Early Learning & Child Care Act to create a government-led notification system in situations of serious physical or sexual abuse.
This would ensure government has the responsibility of notifying all parents of a child care program where such incidents occur & in a timely manner.
Thatβs why today, I joined MLA @dianabatten.bsky.social Shadow Minister for Child and Family Services, alongside MLA Schmidt, MLA Sweet have written to the Minister of Education and Child Care, Demetrios Nicolaides, calling on the UCP government make changes to the Early Learning and Child Care Act.
Over the past year, multiple serious incidents of abuse in child care have occurred, leaving many parents & families understandably concerned. Advocates have since raised the alarm around gaps that need to be addressed regarding parental notifications & accessing a child care programβs history.
Danielle Smith and the UCP government have fundamentally damaged our foundational relationship with Indigenous peoples.
The historic and unprecedented vote of non-confidence in this government at the Assembly of First Nations is proof of this.
www.albertandpcaucus.ca/news/post/al...
It's the first time in history that the Assembly of First Nations has declared they have no confidence in a government.
The UCP government.
Still, Danielle Smith refuses to come forward and clearly denounce separatism.
Why?

Thanks to CFIB AB for meeting with me & sharing the priorities of small businesses in #Alberta.
The Alberta NDP believes in good policy that supports small business entrepreneurs & job creation.
We value small businesses & their workers as they are the backbone of our economy.
We must protect our public healthcare.
Well worth listening to Alberta Treaty Chiefs on their relationship with the GoA and their top concerns, including Alberta #separation.
The vote of non-confidence by Treaty chiefs in this Premier and government should be a wake up call. #abpoli #ableg
Stopped by Gardenia Flower Boutique today for some beautiful florals
Always great to support local businesses here in Marda Loop and across Calgary-Elbow!
Visited Master Chocolat today for some sweet treats!
Love having amazing local businesses in Marda Loop. Always proud to support local here in Calgary-Elbow.
If you support a petition that violates Treaty rights, then you support the violation of Treaty rights.
Itβs that simple.
Honoured to have been nominated as the Alberta NDP candidate for Calgary-Klein. Thank you to everyone who came out and to the incredible volunteers and supporters behind this campaign.
Letβs get to work. πΉ
Danielle Smith and the UCP have failed to invest in the things Albertans care about.
They've failed to invest in us.
We need a government that will.
Alberta's New Democrats are ready.

All Albertans know that our healthcare system is in crisis. The Premier should prioritize addressing the backlogs in emergency rooms. Instead, she continues to make shockingly expensive mistakes.

After six years in power, a fourth budget, and a third multi-billion-dollar deficit, Danielle Smith will blame everyone but herself.
Albertans deserve a Premier who takes responsibility, not one who tells us to make hard choices while refusing to own up to her own mistakes.

It was a pleasure talking to Michael Higgins of Alberta Primetime about the upcoming spring session of the Legislature.

Gratitude. Seva. Hard work. A commitment to making life better for the people around me.
All the values I learned from family long before I entered public life.
Today always reminds me of where it all started.
Happy Family Day, Alberta.
The maple leaf is one of the most recognized symbols in the world, and it belongs to all of us. π¨π¦
On Flag Day, show off your Canadian pride: Put up a flag, share a photo, wear red, cheer on Team Canada, or thank someone who makes our country stronger. Letβs remind each other what we stand for.
Greatness isnβt built by breaking apart β itβs built by working together.
We know better than to walk away.
Our place will always be on Team Canada. π¨π¦

This is a national tragedy and I am absolutely heartbroken. I join all Canadians in standing with the people of Tumbler Ridge. I send my condolences to the families and friends of those killed in this horrific event, and I am praying for a quick recovery for those injured. (1/2)
We're keeping a close eye on the score, and two weeks later, it's still 38-0.
All 38 Alberta New Democrat MLAs have made that pledge to our constituents. Why is it so hard for the UCP to say the same?
youtube.com/shorts/Jy5fi... #TeamCanada
We're proud Albertans. We're proud Canadians.
If they love this province and this country like we do, signing this pledge is the easiest thing an MLA can do.
What are the UCP waiting for?
