hey if you like them you like them. this is a me thing. I listen to modern post punk/goth/deathrock bands but the ones I like keep or even add awkward and weird bits in that, to me, are what's fun about those genres. Interpol probably wrote good songs but I dislike their approach to the material

I do the same. I use leftists to refer to the broad left, but I don't think complaining about how that term should be for anti-capitalists alone is constructive. That's not where its origins lie, and it's a way to confuse the politics. Not useful at a time when the word "socialism" is normalized
