Despite it all, fishing remains "an integral part of Palestinian history and culture, and the motif of a fishing net can be found on the keffiyeh. Fishing is our heritage, our culture, and a vital means of subsistence”.

From 10,000 Palestinian fishermen in 2000, there were only roughly 3,500 left in 2010. Today, there are only about 100. Since the genocide began in 2023, more than 230 fishers have been killed and 95% of fishing boats and vessels have been destroyed by Israel. Since the economic blockade began in 2007, importing nets, fuel, raw materials, or parts to maintain the fleets has become almost impossible. Bombing has destroyed the sewage systems, which discharge between 100 and 120 million liters of dirty water near the coast every day. Coupled with Israel's restrictions on fishing areas that prevent them from accessing large fish offshore, fishermen now have access only to small fish that are contaminated and unfit for consumption, putting their lives at risk.
"We deserve a normal life, we want to live and fish freely [...] we want to live in peace. The hardest thing as a fisherman in Gaza is to go and fish for the bodies of our colleagues, our martyrs. The Israeli army forbids us from recovering the bodies of our murdered fellow fishermen. Sometimes we have to dive in secret to bring back pieces of bodies that we don't even dare to return to the families because they are so badly damaged, eaten by fish or corroded by salt." Caption: Port of Gaza, December 2025
Last year, a boat from the flotilla managed to reach Palestinian territorial waters. That day, the Israeli coast guard was busy stopping the flotilla, and the fishermen were free to fish. With this new flotilla, we will reach the coast of Gaza and break Israel's deadly blockade, with and for our Palestinian brothers and sisters! Free Palestine

Fishing for a living, resisting to survive "We fishermen want you to tell our story. We support the flotillas because they are a concrete action that gives us courage, allows us to believe in humanity, and reminds us that we are not alone. We believe in your efforts and your support, and we will welcome you here with open arms. " Caption: Words from Gaza fishers Fishermen preparing their fishing nets, 1987, Gaza beach
Fishing and the sea are an integral part of Palestinian history and culture, and the motif of a fishing net can be found on the keffiyeh. “We will never give up the sea; fishing is our heritage, our culture, and a vital means of subsistence.” Our name, Thousand Madleens to Gaza, comes from the Madleen, an FFC ship intercepted by the IOF in 2025. It was named in honor of Madleen Kulab, one of the few female fishermen in Gaza. It is a tribute to the resilience and resistance of this woman and an entire people against oppression. “Madleen is a source of pride and a symbol for Gaza and for you. Through her perseverance and courage, she is a symbol of resistance.” Palestinian fisher
Israel has always done everything in its power to uproot the Palestinian people from their land. Attacking their means of subsistence, particularly by destroying the fishing industry, is part of the genocidal process. “Fishermen are very often targeted by the IOF because they document what is happening, and because Israel attacks all means of livelihood for Palestinians, such as attacks on farms and poisoning of the soil.” Palestinian fisher
The fishing zone initially set at 20 nautical miles by the Oslo Accords in 1995 was not only never respected but was gradually restricted to 3 nautical miles in 2009. And although Israel authorized its extension to 15 nautical miles in 2019, attacks have in fact pushed fishermen back to within 3 nautical miles. Today, according to the United Nations, 85% of fishing waters are partially or totally off-limits to fishermen, and 70% of the sector's infrastructure has been destroyed. There are only about 100 Palestinian fishers in Gaza today. In 2000, there were about 10,000. Israel has intentionally targeted fishers in a calculated effort to destroy Palestinian means of subsistence, self-reliance, and livelihood. Through Israel's naval violence... 1/4
Lent and Ramadan We wish observers a blessed Lenten season and Ramadan Mubarak. This year marks the first time since 1863 that Lent and Ramadan began on the same day.
During these holy periods of renewal, fasting, prayer and giving, Palestinian Christians and Muslims in Gaza and the West Bank continue to observe their faith whilst under Israeli occupation, an ongoing genocide, blockade, and apartheid. Since Ramadan and Lent, Israel has increased its raids on homes, its abduction of Palestinians, and its violence against Palestinians trying to enter to the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Meanwhile, Christians in Gaza worship from the three remaining churches that have not yet been totally destroyed by Israel.
Palestinians should not have to celebrate from tents. Palestinians should not have to fast during Israel's engineered starvation. Palestinians should not have to face the ongoing threat of losing their homes to Israeli settlers fulfilling an illegal expansionist policy. Palestinians should not have their futures handed down to them by imperial, Zionist powers on the so-called "Board of Peace".
Despite it all, Palestinians have lit lanterns, decorated their tents amongst the rubble and created makeshift street markets, by and for displaced communities. We must continue to be unwavering in our solidarity and committed to action, standing alongside Palestinians in their struggle for justice, dignity, and freedom.
We wish observers a blessed Lent and Ramadan Mubarak. The genocidal state of Israel is stepping up its attacks, but people in Gaza resist by gathering and celebrating. We must continue to support their struggle for freedom and self-determination.

The Sea and Children The sea is the only wide-open horizon left in Gaza. Yet, despite growing up beside it, most children have never experienced it as a place of freedom or play. Decades of Israel’s structured violence have made the sea a site of danger, with fishing boats and children near the water frequently coming under threat. As a result, the sea has been tied with trauma, fear, restriction, and environmental degradation. One of the key goals of the PHRC is to help children reconnect with the sea, restoring a sense of safety, belonging, and freedom through guided and therapeutic engagement.

Why Trauma Relief is Urgent In Palestine, trauma is inter-generational, passing from one generation to the next. Trauma shapes families, collective identity and the way children grow into adults. Without intervention, the cycle does not end. Under blockade and genocide, children grow up with restrictions on movement, limited safety, disrupted education and chronic insecurity. Colonial violence targets not only the land, but childhood - it replaces development with trauma, memory with pain and generational progress with vulnerability.
Childhood Under Israel’s Blockade Trauma is not a single event; it is continuous exposure to violence, blockade, shortages and bombardment. Trauma shapes how children think, feel and develop. It shatters their sense of safety, their dreams and their relationships. In Gaza, trauma is woven into the environment children grow up in through chronic displacement, loss and fear. This is not incidental: it is the result of a colonial system designed to de-stabilize childhood and undermine the future of an entire nation.
What the PHRC does The PHRC is dedicated to supporting children amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza. It provides trauma relief, mental health support and safe spaces for children in Gaza and Cairo. Through structured, long-term, therapeutic activities, children express themselves, process trauma and regain a sense of safety and stability. The PHRC takes an open-ended and choice-driven approach within its therapeutic activities, creating a safe and supportive environment where children can explore and release emotions while gradually rebuilding their confidence, critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-expression.
In Palestine, trauma is woven into the environment children grow up in through displacement, loss and fear.
This is not incidental: it is the result of a colonial system designed to de-stabilize childhood and undermine the future of an entire nation.

Since 2023, the Israeli army has used white phosphorus in Gaza, an incendiary weapon that produces uncontrollable fires, burns to the bone, and renders soil unusable. A few days ago, in Southern Lebanon, the Lebanese authorities identified that Israeli planes had spread glyphosate at concentrations 20 to 30 times higher than what is considered normal levels, destroying crops, soil, and agricultural ecosystems, and endangering local food security. subtitle: Photo taken in Sderot, in northeast Gaza, showing mortar shells with the inscription "D528", an identification code for white phosphorus ammunition.
BAYER-MONSANTO: CHEMICAL CAPITALISM IN THE SERVICE OF COLONIAL WARS Chemical wars do not appear out of nowhere; they have suppliers. Monsanto is the largest producer of Agent Orange, an ultra-toxic herbicide used by the US army during the Vietnam War. Monsanto was aware that these products contained highly toxic and carcinogenic dioxins but continued to produce and sell them, therefore making Monsanto responsible for millions of Vietnamese victims and land still poisoned to this day.
Today, Bayer-Monsanto is the main marketer of glyphosate, a globally controversial herbicide used extensively in industrial agriculture - and by the Israeli army in Syria and Southern Lebanon - contributing to the degradation of agricultural land and depriving populations of their means of subsistence. This is not a coincidence. It embodies the logic of chemical capitalism, where products that are toxic to the environment and people are valued in the name of profit. Against Bayer-Monsanto: boycott, dismantle the supply chains of poison, and support victims and the fight for their land.
TAKE ACTION AGAINST CHEMICAL WARFARE >> Support farmers rejecting their pesticides and GMO seeds. Palestinian farmers are reviving heirloom seeds to break Bayer’s monopoly → donate to Palestine Heirloom Seed Library (palestineheirloomseedlibrary.com). >> Boycott their products (i.e. Roundup, Aspirin, Alka-Seltzer, etc.), pressure stores to drop them. Join your local BDS group. >> Ditch banks funding them (check BankTrack) and force your city, university to divest. >> Expose them: share this post, document and share evidence of their ties to Israel’s chemical warfare.
A few days ago in southern Lebanon, Israeli aircraft sprayed glyphosate at concentrations 20-30 times higher than normal, destroying agricultural ecosystems and directly endangering local food security.

CHEMICAL COLONIALISM Glyphosate and white phosphorus: Israel poisons Palestinian lands to erase the Palestinian people. Boycott, dismantle Bayer-Monsanto
Colonialism is not limited to bombs, walls, and expulsions: Palestine is also methodically poisoned by Israel through the propagation of toxins and the use of inflammable weapons and chemical substances. Destroying the soil and poisoning the water and crops makes life impossible, condemning the health of the Palestinian people for decades. Far from being an accident, this method is deliberate and documented. subtitle: Israeli airplane spreading glyphosate in Southern Lebanon, February 1st 2026
During the Vietnam War, the US sprayed over 76 million liters of Agent Orange. The goal was to destroy forests and farmland to starve people and force them to leave. Today, Vietnamese soil is still contaminated by Agent Orange dioxin, and generations of Vietnamese still suffer from cancers, congenital malformations, and other diseases linked with exposure. These impacts are felt decades after the war. A war on the land has been used to break a people.
In Palestine, land is fundamental. It is passed on from generation to generation and represents life and Palestinian culture. Israel is aware of its importance, and as such, consistently targets Palestinian agriculture. Farmer organisations involved in seed banks and food autonomy are classified as terrorist organisations; farmers are attacked and killed by the Israeli army, olive trees are uprooted, fields are destroyed, and access to water is controlled. Today, only 1.5% of Gaza consists of accessible and arable agricultural land. To destroy the link between a people and its land is to organise its erasure.

In 2010, Israel killed 10 volunteers aboard the ‘Mavi Marmara’, but that did not stop us. In fact, families of those martyrs are still active in the Freedom Flotilla Coalition today due to our shared belief that we can and must do everything in our power to force open Gaza.

We've been sailing to break Israel’s illegal siege of Gaza for almost two decades. The first Free Gaza Movement flotilla that reached Gaza in 2008 promised Palestinians “we won’t stop sailing until Israel’s siege is broken". We've kept that promise. We won’t back down.

Concerned citizen: The flotillas have not broken Israel’s siege yet. Why keep trying? The first flotilla that reached Gaza in 2008 promised Palestinians that "we won’t stop sailing until Israel’s siege is broken". We have kept that promise. We won’t back down now because of Israel’s attempts to shut us down.
We acknowledge concerns around launching another flotilla, particularly given the costs and Israel’s confiscation of our vessels and goods onboard. Evaluation of the impact of our actions are both appropriate and necessary. Since 2010, we successfully fought to have boats returned, received compensation for others, and we will continue to fight for the rest. Regardless, we believe that the cost of a boat must be weighed against the cost of silence, complicity, and normalization of Israel’s crimes against Palestinians - costs measured in lives, not dollars.
Even if flotilla vessels are not returned, each mission: • Drives global media coverage of Israel’s crimes that no lobbying effort could buy. While Israel spends billions on propaganda to silence the truth, the flotilla forces media to cover Israel’s violence against Palestinians, as well as those who act in solidarity. • Creates a significant financial burden: Israel has spent millions attacking our boats; abducting and deporting volunteers; on police and prison costs; on litigation; on maintenance of stolen boats, and much more. • Forces international governments to address Israel’s law violations. • Sends a strong message to Palestinians that they're not alone, and helps build solidarity for a free Palestine.
Meanwhile, hundreds of millions of dollars worth of aid continues to rot at Gaza’s borders, waiting for permission from the same entity that deliberately starves and freezes Palestinians to death. We reject the notion that the occupier be allowed to determine what can get in and out of Gaza. Keeping up the pressure to break Israel’s siege must remain a priority. We cannot and will not back down because of Israel’s attempts to shut us down.

[title] Mobilize against Israel's Death Penalty Bill! [sub-title] A move to legalize the hanging of Palestinians while denying legal access, enforcing isolation, and granting total immunity to those who carry out executions. Picture of woman and man standing comforting each other
Violence and torture against Palestinians in Israeli prison camps—widely documented and condemned by international human rights bodies—has been met with impunity. This impunity has now paved the way for Israel to advance a bill for the execution of Palestinian hostages, denying them any right to appeal and holding them in isolation until execution—within 90 days. The world must act to stop this before it's too late. [Picture] Several men behind prison bars; one man in prison clothing with chains around his wrists giving two 2-fingered victory salutes.
Genocide—especially in a globalized world like ours—is never committed in a vacuum. It is normalized through racist propaganda and legitimised with immoral legislation and policies. From the colonization of Australia and Turtle Island, to the transatlantic slave trade, European colonization of Africa, the Herero and Nama massacres in German Southwest Africa, the Armenian Genocide, the Holocaust, and the Rwandan Genocide, history makes clear that law and institutions intended to protect people have repeatedly been used by colonial and authoritarian regimes to legitimize mass atrocities against racialised and vulnerable minorities.
Ben-Gvir, the Israeli far-right minister advancing the bill, has openly called for more lethal, cruel, and collectively punitive measures against Palestinians, further exposing Israel's genocidal intent and reliance on global inaction. This leaves no room for delay. Israel must face immediate consequences, including boycotts, sanctions, arms embargoes, diplomatic isolation, and international legal accountability.
Act Now!
Israel is moving to legalize executing Palestinian hostages while denying them legal access, holding them in isolation, and granting total immunity to those who carry out the killings.
This is the logical outcome of decades of impunity, racist dehumanization... 1/2

“We don’t feel that the war has ended. They haven’t allowed us to return to our areas or even check on our homes. We are still living through another war, the war of displacement and suffering, especially with the arrival of winter.” Haj Abu Imad, 55 years old, displaced with his family from Jabalia Camp. “At any moment, you find people waking up in the middle of the night, panicked and disoriented. More than once, they leave their homes and are forced to flee west of Gaza. You see the (yellow) concrete blocks advancing toward them, or shelling starts, with shells landing all around them.” - Resident of Shujaiya neighborhood (about 200 meters from the “Yellow Line")
While Trump's so-called "peace plan" suggested a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces, Israel had no intention of retreating, instead viewing the border "a forward defensive line and a line of operational activity.” (Eyal Zamir, Israeli military Chief of Staff). According to Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, Israel continues to illegally seize Gaza's territory by shifting the yellow line daily. Palestinians living close to its border report daily attacks and shelling, as well as a continuous movement of the line.
"Inside this [Yellow Line]... responsibility for killing shifts to the victim, punished for returning to their own neighborhood" (Euro Med Human Rights Monitor) In December, three-year-old Ahed al-Bayok was reportedly shot and killed by Israeli forces in al-Mawasi near Khan Younis, on the Gaza side of the Yellow Line. Within the same hour, the Israeli military claimed its soldiers had “identified a terrorist who crossed the Yellow Line.” Whether this statement referred to the toddler remains unclear; however, similar language has repeatedly been used by the Israeli military following its shooting of Palestinian children.
Israel's genocide and siege of Gaza never ended. The so-called "cease-fire" and Yellow Line merely conceal Israel's atrocities from the view of the global public, acting as a fraudulent promise to the international community and to Palestinians that the genocide is over. Through the ongoing theft of land and denying Palestinians access to their homes and right to rebuild, Israel is carrying forward its systematic effort to erase the Palestinian people.
... denying Palestinians access to their homes, farmland, & humanitarian aid & enforcing displacement through live fire. This is not security, but the quiet continuation of genocide, concealed from the world as Palestinians endure daily killing, hunger, siege, land theft & forced displacement. 2/3
Text: Israels' Yellow Line - The Ongoing Silent Genocide Image of large yellow block in the ground with shell of a building in background
Since the so-called “ceasefire” announced in October 2025—violated by Israel more than 1,000 times—there remains a false impression that Israel’s genocide in Gaza has ended. In reality, alongside its ongoing illegal siege, the Israeli government has intensified its theft of Palestinian land not only in the West Bank but also in Gaza, through the so-called “Yellow Line,” which functions as an expanding zone of de facto annexation.
Over half of the Gaza Strip is still under Israeli control. Map of Gaza and the Yellow Line.
The Yellow Line remains largely unmarked on the ground, and prohibits or restricts Palestinians' access to humanitarian facilities and assets, public infrastructure, agricultural land, and homes - implemented with deadly force. Many Palestinians, including young children, have been shot and killed by the Israeli military simply for approaching these areas. Hundreds of others have been killed and over 1,000 injured by Israeli forces since October 10.
Instead of withdrawing from Gaza, Israel has imposed a so-called "Yellow-Line," leaving its military occupying 58% of Gaza and forcibly confining Palestinians to the remaining 42 percent. This largely unmarked and lethal boundary functions as de facto annexation... 1/3

Text: The F-15: one of the most powerful fighter jets in the world The Israeli Air Force has used fixed-wing combat aircraft, including F-15s, to carry out airstrikes across Gaza since October 2023. Heavy Loads: The Israeli variant of the F-15 (F 15I Ra’am) can carry a very large weapons load - reportedly up to around 11 tons (about 22,000 lb) of bombs, missiles, and other munitions. Precision, long-range capability: Targeting systems allow F-15s to hit specific buildings or neighborhoods from miles away, flattening entire residential areas. F-15s can launch attacks from far outside Gaza, giving no warning and making it nearly impossible for residents to escape in time.
