It was doubly advantageous at a time of massive wealth inequality: you reinstate elite power and build a new political alliance and build a narrative that the problem is stuff like anti-masculinity and the erosion of “traditional” culture so folks stop talking about capitalist domination
This article feels like such a clarifying gift at this moment: it pinpoints that leftist “identity politics” were actually quite good at connecting problems to capitalism, and this scared a bunch of rich people who have fueled and funded the “anti-woke” politics. (1/2)
