For those following along at home, @ethicking.com is about to argue before the Wisconsin Supreme Court for the third time in her career. It's an appeal of a lawyer discipline case. Almost as narrow a legal point as you can get, says the non-lawyer. You can watch on Wisconsin Eye.

Tonight’s cooking: Avgolemono Chicken Soup With Gnocchi via @nytimes.com NYT Cooking. Not yet clear what @nytpitchbot.bsky.social would make of having cabbage in it.

I, for one, look forward to the year 2031, the next time we will not have a #SCOWIS election. But until then—let's go!!

Never heard a word about genocide or vaccines. A few were talking about immigration—ironic in Cudahy, which has a site commemorating new migrants, when a first-generation American was talking about it.

I ran the South Milwaukee and the south 'burbs campaign office for a Democratic Congressional candidate. We made S. Milwaukee into a hotbed of activism in that final month, maybe for the first time ever. Yet I too got a chilly reception at the doors. The lean toward Trumpedous Rex was palpable.

Given the stew that occurred after the Brewers' funding passed, and a couple of legislators were recalled, I don't know how they would've done that. Also, the Leg. has always hated Milwaukee. They'd probably make us (MKE) pay to keep the Packers. Which... we could do. Tough, but possible.

Pick up the nearest book. Turn to page 42, post the second sentence:

"She appeared in the doorway like a creepy butler."

Milwaukee is a city of vibrant, active neighborhoods. I like it.

I’ll let you know. 🤓 My spouse @ethicking.com is a professional responsibility and ethics lawyer (and does a little election law on the side), so watching that show for a long time was an exercise in major suspensions of disbelief. Like, “no, you can’t DO THAT!” (From me, not her.) 😁

Shoresy! Love that show. After enough sustained watching, you start to figure out that underneath the unflinchingly vulgar, rude humor, it’s very pro-Native and pro-women. Strong, assertive women in particular. And, you know, hockey!

Fastest train in the world before WW2. And classy. The morning hiawatha between Chicago, Milwaukee, and the Twin Cities would hit 125 miles per hour in some rural straightaways west of Madison.

Neither Alaska or Hawai'i on this map, nor New Zeala—I mean, Greenland. Terrible map, indeed.

This is wild—the cave where these were found is located a few hundred km east of the farm in Bayern that my 17th Century ancestors left to head the New World. (It's still a farm to this day.)

Just heard this on @npr.org, and I'm wondering—FDR had a Black cabinet?

It's absolutely unbelievable that the U.S. DOJ would carefully remove the documents surrounding the alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old, who later testified as an adult, against the president and his former pedo-mentor.

Yes, we still passed the good laws. Yes, your message was heard. However, the the redundancy of the same message coming in from dozens of ostensibly different emails lessens its effectiveness. Waves of rapid-fire cloned emails filling inboxes—(ding! ding! ding!ding!ding!...ding! DING!!) No thx. :)

Dear All: I appreciate the mass-emailing of the Milwaukee Common Council in support of Ice Out MKE legislation. As a former elected person, I found these mass-email campaigns numbed my support for good causes. Astroturfing alders and staff is much less effective than are individual calls and emails.

Not enough people know how he drastically reduced and permanently undermined funding for affordable housing, both in terms of stock and development. His policies and actions made life much, much harder for people of lower means.
