But we keep fighting back — and winning. For the third time, a judge ordered DHS to allow Congress to conduct oversight of ICE facilities.

I attended several livestreams from it while travel was shutdown early in the pandemic, and it does indeed look like a very nice place. From Split I've been to Hvar and Vis.
Yeah, I know they do, but I wasn't sure whether the ferries mostly shut down (most of them do in the Greek islands despite the year-round residents). Korčula is one I've never been to, although I hope to visit someday

Are the ferries to the islands running from Split yet?
Were the traffic lights out because of the mess? Yeah, it was pretty bad here too. The walk light wasn't working at one of the intersections I walked through but I presumed that's just the usual city infrastructure issues. (The traffic lights were working fine at it.)

I'm working on a book proposal at the moment, the core thesis of which is "Democracy fails not when lies spread, but when verified reality can no longer alter incentive structures." and we're seeing it happen in real time. Which is good for the book, but bad for democracy.

I think they might have better luck spending two thousand dollars holding a press conference where they detail who made the key decisions to collaborate with the Trump administration, how and when they were fired, and explaining what would stop that from happening again.
