4/4 The horrors experienced by some in the pandemic have already started to be forgotten, to be minimised and airbrushed from history. We cannot allow that to happen if we want to do better when the next crisis hits.

We have security services which the prime minister and the highest judges say have misled the court and which another senior judge said in an inquiry report do not present accurate pictures and instead give retrospective justifications for their actions. And these are the instances we know about. The Hillsborough law campaigners are right to resist this late amendment, and the government should provide that any exemption of the duty of candour on national security grounds should be independently assessed from those who assert it. And that is how the national interest would be best served.

Why the Hillsborough law campaigners are right to be resolute
The attempts to water down the duty of candour should be resisted

Thank you x
Thank you for acknowledging the catastrophic and unforgivable failures contained in the M2 Covid Inquiry report & that covid continues to impact the economy. As someone who lost a family member it is galling that people who failed us have been rewarded and many remain in positions of responsibility.

So, to those who say "masks don't work", cite the flawed Cochrane report, insist upon an unfeasible RCT, accuse folks of panic, and undermine public health on social and mainstream media during a flu/RSV epidemic...

Iโve added an Excess Deaths Comparison page to my analysis on that topic. Here Iโm comparing the UK, Sweden, Australia and New Zealand, to June 2025.
My method projects "Expected Deaths" using a linear regression on the weekly deaths (4-week average) from a baseline of 2015-2019 deaths.

โThe Covid Public Inquiry is a devastating critique of medical advisers, civil servants and politicians who led the UK to the worst public health disaster in a century. More than 230,000 deaths.โ

In black and white here you have it. 'Too little too late' and led by a 'chaotic and toxic' government. Without both my Grandma Sheila, and many others, may well not have died at that time and in that way.

Tomorrow is a hugely important day.
At 4pm, the UK Covid-19 Inquiry will publish its report into the UKโs pandemic decision-making & political governance.
I dearly hope our political leaders & decision-makers will listen, learn &, above all, act on the findings.
Because there will be a next time.
The question โhas there been a culpable state failure?โ must surely fall into module 2, Core UK Govโt decision-making & political governance.
The question on many HCW minds is surely โdoes the decision to downgrade PPE from FFP3 to FRSM on 13 Mar 2020 represent such culpability?โ
On Thurs 20th, Lady Hallett publishes her module 2 report.
We wait with interest to see how it covers the deception wrought upon HCWs that: a) Covid is droplet/fomite, but not airborne b) Flimsy Fluid Resistant Surgical Masks are 'PPE' and will keep you safe.
