This retaining wall was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places. It was built by WPA workers in 1936 and holds up Richwood Avenue in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Across the U.S., the WPA built 1,820 miles of new retaining walls and revetments.

The New Deal created 110,000+ jobs for American Indians & Native Alaskans, through the CWA, PWA, WPA, & especially the CCC. Through these agencies a breathtaking array of public works were carried out on native lands.
