First key step (IMHO) is a 20% swing to Scottish Greens on the list. That would make them official opposition. A psychological step that demotes unionists to third place. 35% gets us to a 2/3rds Indy majority seat split.

The biggest gains are actually quite close. Every +1 Indy is -1 unionist

SNP 1&2 is a vote to have the SNP as the one and only party of power against a fragmented opposition but will re-elect another 50/50 Indy/unionist parliament.

… seats to even help form a coalition government. If the unionists get in, then there is a likelihood that devolution will be unwound and that will be that.

So IMHO, the only rational explanation is that the SNP does not want to promote a strategy that could lead to another party having a seat …

…Alternatively, it’s a mitigation strategy for an awful outcome, but considering that a region would have to lose 3 or 4 seats (over the predicted outcome from the polls) to get just one list seat then it’s an incredibly bad strategy because the SNP won’t get a majority and the SG won’t have enough…

I can do the maths and so can the management of the SNP and voting SNP 1 SG 2 would clearly minimise the number of unionist seats, however, if the SG were to get 30 or so seats, would they then become an alternative vote for people that may be voting SNP because there is no current alternative? …

The only other pro-indy party is the Scottish Greens.

The SNP is likely to win few, if any, list seats.

So if pro-independence voters don’t give their 2nd vote to the Greens, those seats go to the unionist foul four.
