There's research for a specific purpose and there's research for the sheer joy of learning something new.
Those of us who love both kinds get lost down the rabbit hole of links leading to anywhere and everywhere.
Start with one little factoid, end up on the other side of the galaxy.

Thank you! Andromeda has two more doses of Ulcergard and then we're done! Breezy doesn't have a fever any more and just has a snotty nose. She's on the mend.
"is this a pigeon?" meme, except it's a writer looking at a perfectly normal first draft and asking "Is this the worst thing ever written?"
Remember, a first draft's only job is to exist
Haven't been on here much. One of my mares ended up with ulcers. Mostly cleared now, last week of treatment. My other mare has a mild respiratory illness.
It's been a lot in 6 weeks.
It's a fun movie! :)
A screenshot of a post previously from Greenpeace. Itβs a photo of a blue fence with black writing on top. The writing says: βIf you ever feel heavy because you care deeply about injustice, suffering and ecological destruction. Remember thatβs trillion dollar propaganda machine was built to make you numb and it didnβt work on you. β
I needed to read this today. Thought someone else might need it too.
Teaching literary theory has been the most influential approach Iβve used to improve HS studentsβ interpretive ability.
Theory helps them see whatβs possible with interpretation, not just whatβs permitted by βcorrectβ readings.

Hi gentlecreatures,
You may know me as the wanderer who spent 2 months posting a National Park or other public land a day this spring to beautify your timeline and highlight the danger our lands are in under this administration.
These lands are in and around many of those places.
Time for a new π§΅

Pleasure to meet you. :) It's fascinating what factors influence stories and how those things show up.

;) Another fun topic! I think it's fascinating to see how people combine human and equine mannerisms.
If you ever want to learn more about how to write about horses, @dancinghorse.bsky.social has a great book called Writing Horses. Written by someone who knows horses and history.
Thank you!
Question Three Have you ever written (or read) an animal character that was fully sentient - or worse, smarter than the humans? What did it do that stayed with you? #HorrorWritersChat Quote post and don't forget the tag
Question 3.
Let's talk about the really smart animals. Not just the harbingers, the ones in the background, but an actual clever one.

Love the name and the premise. Sounds like a fun read.
Hi, Eryn! Pleasure to meet you. :)
:) Why not! The more the merrier.
I just discovered your chat today! Came up on my thread. A lot of fun reading through responses. Thank you for doing this.
So interesting to see how authors interpret them. :) Fascinating stuff. Although, it's a pet peeve when the author doesn't know much about horses.
Greetings. I write whatever story possesses me at the time. Lately, it's a lot more horror because (waves hand at general world in U.S.) causes anxiety which gets processed as horror.
Familiar? Probably a horse (see profile picture). My two tortie cats might disagree.
