Health insurance industry PR is working overtime right now diverting blame to physicians for claim denials and rising costs. I feel compelled to remind everybody that Optum (UHC) is the largest employer of physicians in the US. We have never had less power in healthcare than we do right now.

I believe there are even some hybrids now with springs and very dense firm layers of foam that will work on an adjustable base. Bed tech is wild and has come a long way. If you can't do super soft though, ghost bed is not for you!

It is a pain in the ass to shop but you will find your match, I promise! My tempur is pretty firm. My cousin has a ghost bed adjustable and it's like a sunken marshmallow. Mine is a brick in comparison! I have these sheets BTW and pockets are good:

A lot of these memory foam-ish mattresses they have now are compatible w an adjustable base. So if Tempurpedic doesn't make a mattress you enjoy but xyz brand or sleep number does, superb! Slap it on an adjustable base and you are all set! Also buy DEEP POCKET sheets!

I do not have a sleep number bed (to adjust firmness) but purchased a tempurpedic mattress on an adjustable base in my 30s. I'm a side sleeper. Can adjust head and feet. Have RA, fibro, and hypermobility. Best investment I ever made. Try out mattresses to find right one but def get adjustable bed!
