Apparently this is an actual obsolete English expression I'd never heard. Kind of a banger, spoken to a character defending an obvious villain just because he thinks it's his righteous duty to uphold the status quo. You should not, in fact, hold a candle for the devil.

Dang, casually assumed it had just been over-edited, but should have caught it. Feathers look strange, light is flattened unnaturally even for a gray day, the bokeh looks odd. Forever grateful for people watching like hawks AND posting reasons/comparisons.
