An excellent read.

As we resist Trumpβs tyranny, America gains solidarity.
As we gain solidarity, we feel more courageous.
As we feel courageous and stand up to Trump, we weaken him and his regime.
As we weaken Trump and his regime, we have less to fear.
Itβs -9 degrees. Downtown Minneapolis is packed for the anti-ICE rally and the crowd keeps growing
I should post more often here. Oh well. Anyway, here's a blog post:

I'm watching Dennis Leary on the Tonight Show right now, and IDK, he looks like some plastic surgery and make-up went horribly wrong.
I'm watching the Charlie Kirk thing with #Trump talking and I'm sorta wondering, is he having a stroke or something?
Thank you!
Itβs funny that the NY Post reports this as if itβs a dig on Jimmy Kimmel β when itβs actually a rallying cry for his fans.
I agree-- we've known Trump is a predator for a while. The difference with the Epstein files though is how the not insignificant percentage of Trump supporters (and even some house members like Greene) are also demanding those files be released. This time, it's bipartisan. Or more so.
OTOH, the way Trump and the admin is acting about the files now, it sure makes it seem like they are trying to hide something. Is Trump's name in there dozens of times? hundreds? thousands? It might not be a crime, but how many more weirdo and creepy pedo drawings and the like are in there?
Well, we just don't know, right? It ought to be a problem if it turns out there is nothing about anyone that can tie people in power to sex crimes b/c Trump assured us "big truths" would be revealed. IE, Trump lied about the Epstein files from the get-go to rile up the base.
How come it feels like everything is a distraction from the Epstein files?
It's been a while-- again. Anyway, here's a new blog post:

I'd kind of forgotten about this site.
Just too good!
For the life of me I cannot figure out why Donald Trump is trying to destroy higher education
Graphs showing 25 years of budgets for the National Institute of Health, NASA, and the NSF. In all cases, the proposed budget for next year is far, far below any year of the previous quarter century.
There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd.
It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.
Hey Sen. Joni Ernst, people shouldn't be dying of treatable conditions because their Senators cut social safety nets that people have paid into all their lives, so they no longer have access to the care that would treat or manage their conditions.
The fact that this has to be spelled out is insane.
Yes, Joni, we are all going to die.
But it shouldn't be our SENATORS who are killing us.
Maybe, but there wasn't any other viable Dem in the race. Obviously not RFK. Dean Phillips is a good guy, but he wasn't ever going to be the nominee.
"Then again, in a rational world, neither Joe Biden nor Donald Trumpβwho has spent his first months back in office intentionally dismantling core institutions, flouting the law, and threatening the Constitutionβwould have been elected president in the first place."
I am fascinated by the reporting on "Original Sin." To quote from the end of this piece: "In a rational world, Congress would hold bipartisan hearings about how this happened and whether and to what extent Bidenβs aides hid the truth from the public."

If the economy shrank in the 1st qtr despite everyone front-loading their purchases and the tariffs not hitting yet, I really worry about how big the contractions will be in Q2 and Q3
Fully endorse.
Spot on, Larry; hope you're reading, Bill Maher.

NEW: When a firefighter dies, a small team of federal health workers helps pinpoint what went wrong and identify how to avoid similar accidents in the future.
Trump laid off nearly all of them.
I was wondering about the cause/effect relationship, how JD Vance's abilities to make everything worse killed the pope. This is a much more charitable and probably correct.

We want #manufacturing back but we don't want to be the ones screwing them screws lol. Also, send some love to the business leaders out there trying to make long term business plans while they have no idea what #tariffs will apply to them in 30 or 90 days or...maybe by 11 am on Tuesday.
Yep. I haven't had as many older, non-trad students lately, but I've had lots of people working these "good factory jobs" coming to college (or coming back) & the reason is this chart.
