As I sit here reapplying those foundations to my work today, I see that these old guys with their dinosaur drawing techniques and practices were fucking right all along.
I have fallen in love with comics all over again and I have been obsessing with the technical history of comic books, revisiting old textbooks from college, looking back at how important and essential those foundation classes really were.
The past few years have been me playing catch up on what it means to be a responsible fucking adult this late into my life. I was woefully overprivileged and underprepared for life and boy has this been the exact kick in the teeth this punk-ass egotistical bitch needed.
Most humbling thing in the world has been being ten years since I went to art school and after years of carrying myself and truly believing myself to be better than everyone around me getting a true dose of the real fucking world and finally learning and accepting that no the absolute fuck I'm not.
