U. study finds social media app X spreads pro-caste system messaging in India A recent study from the Rutgers School of Communication and Information found that the social media platform X is often used to normalize pro-caste hierarchy ideas in India.

Doctoral student, Nayana Kirasur, & Assist. Prof. of LIS, Shagun Jhaver, won best paper at the CSCW Conference, finding the “normalization of certain cultures, whether it's racist cultures or sexist cultures...contributes to online harm."
