Exams will never prepare you for life.. Life will.
Exams will never prepare you for life.. Life will.
Thank you
Just checking in..
I went to talk this weekend with Rebecca Solnit, a writer, historian and activist.
She talked about the slowness of change and how we hold steady in uncertain times with hope and it got me thinking..
We must always be here. Always..x
Thanks so much for having me
It's been such a delight to host @elizafricker.bsky.social and our amazing comics and autism team this week! Looking forward to working with you again in the autumn π
Their support and encouragement makes my heart swell.
I canβt wait to come back in the autumn.
@drjennyg.bsky.social
@drjuliebailey.bsky.social
We made plans to make more plans including lectures and more workshops in the near future.
As you know I wasnβt ready or able to take part in further education when I was younger so the opportunities they have given me in the last few years is feels amazing.
My heart and head are full after my stay at Cambridge University.
This week I was invited back to finish our project on comics and autism.
The conversations and explorations were brilliant and mind expanding.
It was a delight to welcome @elizafricker.bsky.social to the NiES (Neurodiversity in Educational Settings) Masterβs Module @camedfac.bsky.social last week, discussing why authentic trust and genuine relationships must be at the heart of inclusion for #neurodivergentlearners
Ps. Books are and have always been one of my special interests they calm me and help me make sense of the world so Iβm chuffed to bits I actually get to contribute to this world myself now!
I love my work and feel passion and authenticity are so important to the work I do, who I work with and what will best connect with our children.
Over the next week Iβll be sharing videos of each of these books Iβve worked on. π
Hereβs the books Iβve worked on so far.
They are all about neurodivergence, education and parenting.
I am a neurodivergent author as well as parent.
A few days off on a road trip with three teenagers to travel around and visit my editor, @drnaomifisher.bsky.social and a democratic school.
Place, times and experiences that settle and calm as well as inspire. π
Really lovely.
Thank you π
Thank you
I've barely started "Can't Not Won't" by @elizafricker.bsky.social and I wish I'd found her two years ago
"It should be enough for any child to show they are too unwell to go to school and then we should have choices.. without joining waiting lists that stretch for years"
Hear, hear.
I was recently asked to talk about PDA for her new podcast.
We talk about the adjustments our children need to thrive.
The episode has a lovely title too: Draw the World Differently.

(Learned a lot as I went)
Took all my time in the end.
To put it right.
To mend it.
Put it back together again.
Repair what we lost for so long through all of that.
Us.x
But I want to show you I can do it.
The main thing is it is done with love.
Whatever it looks like, we donβt worry about the end result.
What you will know is I tried my best.
I didnβt rush.
Iβm not very good at it, never have been.
Iβm all fingers and thumbs.
Clumsy.
Impatient.
But itβs important, the most precious thing.
So, I sit take my time.
No idea what I am doing really.
Thank you!

Wow. Thanks everyone β¨
Perhaps you are thinking about big transitions and if they will manage it, then it may be helpful to know there are options.
Join me next Wednesday 30 April at midday.

So how do we know when is the right time?
What if we've found something and we think it could work?
Join me next week for Looking For Learning Options when I will talk through how we find those options and when is the right time.
When though?
How long?
How much should I 'push'?
These are the questions we ask ourselves.
Because we know how hard it is.
To imagine them even getting dressed.
To travel in a car.
Thank you
