This data will help her determine if their movement and behavior are impacted by abootic factors in the environment. Great work Mary, and huge thank you to FWC for your support!
A few weeks ago, one of our graduate students Mary Gardella went out with Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for her thesis work. Mary is using passive acoustic telemetry to track the movement of Bluntnose stingrays in the Indian River Lagoon, FL.
They got to see animals like Darwinβs finches, giant tortoises, Galapagos sharks, manta rays, and Blue-footed boobies. They also visited the recent eruption sites (2005 & 2018) on Sierra Negra volcano. What an awesome trip! π¦π’π (3/3)
Visiting islands Isabela, Floreana, Santa Cruz, and BartolomΓ©, students conducted mini research projects analyzed ecological concepts in person such as evolution and invasive species theories. (2/3)
For the past few weeks, our PI Dr. Kerstetter, graduate student Alexia Hilber, and undergraduate students ventured to the GalΓ‘pagos Islands as a research trip for their Ecology of the GalΓ‘pagos Islands class. (1/3)
