Yes this was about CNN, CBS & MSNBC, who don't even acknowledge that Ziz is trans.

I didn't mean Rob, I meant the mainstream papers.
Not you, Rob, of course not. WashPo, CNN, MSNBC.
Oh this is how I find out that the entire national media is misgendering & deadnaming her because she's a criminal, awesome.
Of course, but I distinctly remember RW & LW agitators (ethics-neutral term in this case) using the Euromaidan to build groundswell, which then fomented during the interim until the invasion.
She had to RE-come out a couple years ago because she'd stealthed so hard people forgot!
None of that is illiberal, though. Force with force is inevitable at this point, if you're looking at things from a leftist perspective deeper than SocDem.
As well as Suzi Spherehunter, who is trans, has a deep voice with some rasp, but passes flawlessly.
Will always point at my GOAT Queen Shoreh for this
If I did what Luigi Mangione did I wouldn't be wishing for my freedom. I would be wishing with all my heart for others to do as I had done.
A lot of me wishes I had the wherewithal to do the one, big act that sparks a fire, but I don't think I do.
I try & keep this energy in my heart, in the stead of that wherewithal.
We're already down the shit pit worse than Bolsonaro had put Brazil when he lost, though. Drastic, illiberal measures will have to be taken to combat illiberalism in kind.
I'm not disagreeing with this post, but as for the assertion that taking steps to curb dogwhistling & tacit support would just make the alt-right stronger, I have to point you to Lula et al. in Brazil sweeping the board with Bolsonaro, his regime, & their messaging & party. That shit WORKED.
It was truly grass-roots & populist, so trying to define it as any type of partisan *as a whole* misses the point. There were anarchists, MList commies, Ukrainian traditionalists, Neo-Nazis, Nazbols, & everything in between, but EVERYONE was all-in on "fuck this bullshit election nonsense".
The "Axis of Resistance" being given ass-pats for being anti-US via jingoism & xenophobic nationalism as if that's enough to be considered Left-adjacent has had me permanently heated since I learned about it. Like, FFS, we're really giving the Assadists credit? Really. Two things can be bad at once.
Ah, yeah gotcha! Yeah, one of the most formative things I ever heard online was the joke phrase "Once you go far enough left you get your guns back" & my teenage brain was like "oh, forreal? Alright!"
I haven't heard the term "orangewash" before, what's that?
Can't wait for the inevitable repeat of "KGB agents going insurgent because fuck you guys"
"big ape brood on rocky cliff in the Mojave" vs. "big Jewish guy brood in trenchcoat in the middle of Brooklyn", truly two of the best Types of Guy in comics
Yeah that was a purely rhetorical question, just begging it for the sake of it because it really needs to be emphasized.
Bourdain was a unique PoV writer in that he was a strange man with strange perspectives & opinions, that was his whole schtick! Same with the legendary Hunter S. Thompson! Nobody "got" H.S. Thompson, not even his closest friends! That's WHY YOU HIRED HIM!!
If people like Bourdain (who I respect the work of, even!) could get SO MUCH attention for their expansive & often genuinely insightful writing about any number of topics from the PoV of THEMSELVES, exclusively, boldly, blatantly THEMSELVES, why can't literally any queer people do the same?
I feel like a Duke Nukem Ally is more honest, at least, & more likely to accept a non-passing trans woman as he would an unattractive woman than a Good Liberal saying platitudes.

Yeah exactly. The arguments earlier were a bit zero-sum for my stance & I just wanted to weigh in
Hell, just fly a small American flag with a Pride flag & your flavor of far-left flag on the same pole, it'll get the point across.
Tossing some pride pins on the jacket would make the intent clear & smack jerks in the face, rhetorically.
Flying it by its lonesome on the progressive side would definitely be stupid, Chad et al. have a point there, but like, imagine a US flag with the blue field replaced with the modern chevron Pride flag, or something like that. You have to merge the symbology of "pro-American" with "progressive".
It's one of those things where the messaging managed to outstrip the actual history for soooooo long that, even though the US was objectively not deserving of its reputation of being better than its peers, the symbolic value of the messaging that it was was worth preserving anyway.
