It’s not Mad Max out here, even a little bit. But it’s feeling more and more like Logan’s Run
Police carrying guns with less-lethal and gas canister rounds looking at suspicion at anyone who drives by them. Police looking intently at a man on an overpass waving a Mexican flag.
But it’s not quite fair to say “business as usual.” What there is is a LOT of is police. Police in riot gear blocking freeway entrances. Police cars, sirens on, in quarter mile lines barreling down the freeway.
I live just north of Downtown and have to pass through the curfew zone to get almost anywhere. It’s not Mad Max out here.
I’ve seen a lot of posts, aimed at non-Angelenos, about how it is all business as usual here. About how there are no rioters, no looting, no urban warfare with “military-aged illegal aliens.” The details are true.
Always happy when the winds of fortune blow our sociopathic opportunist governor back onto the vaguely right side of history. I’ll enjoy the next few days of it!
I definitely could see the puffs of gas rounds going off from the Freeway earlier in the ride. This is what fascism and resistance to it looks like. I am so proud of my city for standing up to Trump’s jackbooted thugs and I hope we can continue to resist the tide of inhumanity he he sends our way.
