I liked that Sinners had a subplot about how they were underwater because the only payment anyone had was wooden nickels, aka scrip.

I saw it in the theaters, and yeah, the bit at the beginning is bad. It didn't kill the movie for me, but it’s better without it.

To anyone who hasn't seen Dark City (1998) before but likes The Matrix (1999):
GO WATCH DARK CITY (1998) BUT ONLY THE DIRECTOR'S CUT. THE THEATRICAL CUT SPOILS ALL THE TWISTS AT THE START IT'S BAD.

Over here in the U.S. I’m kind of hoping we can go back to fictional characters and the occasional buffalo.
And I hope those millions of people are having fun.
Wait, there’s also one about Stuart saving the multiverse? Da fuq?
Oh shit! AEW is here!
Warrants aren’t that hard to get. But for some reason, cops hate getting them anyways. So, putting up a few hoops between them and your data is, I think, some protection. Certainly better than your average email provider. But don’t buy into hype that it’s better than it is.
That said, I don’t know of any instance where Proton has given data away without a warrant. Given that they’re Swiss, the consequences of not complying with demands from foreign jurisdictions are minimal. They don't have to play nice with the U.S. Federal Government.
Any third party you give your data to will have to follow the laws of the jurisdiction they are located in, at a minimum. And, in order to have (and pay for!) an email account managed by a third party, you’re going to have give that party some of your data. And they're going to need to keep it.
Proton Mail has always had to follow Swiss law, because they’re in Switzerland. Same with all the other Proton Apps. That means complying with warrants from the Swiss government, or warrants from other countries if issued under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty, like the one the FBI got.
Oh, I see now. Thanks!
Wait, so does this mean that if you get of the hereditary peers, then they can’t elect lifetime peers?
Huh, I didn’t know that they made a movie adaptation of Malcolm Gladwell’s book.
Those are the best adventures.

TIL that most of the UK House of Lords is made of Life Peers, not hereditary peers like I had previously thought.
Just want you to think about how long the U.S. has been fucking with veterans. And how much the so-called Greatest Generation tilted the scales in favor of themselves.
Fun fact, the last time Congress declared war was in World War II.
I think they’ve long since changed it, but it used to be that you got bonus points on civil service exams if you were vet. Even more if you were a vet during a war. But only WWII counted, because Vietnam and Korea weren’t wars.
I once told a friend that the lowest ranking officer outranks the highest ranking enlisted person and they said “oh wow.” And it occurred to me that, even with all the military propaganda surrounding us, we have no fucking clue how the military actually works.
Star Trek has a lot to answer for.
...maybe?
Olive Garden gift card time!
I’m guessing if you tried it, it would have 3 bulbs of garlic?
I like this anthology because I love short fiction. Especially when it’s stand alone. I love a story that contains everything you need to know within it.
It's also nice to read some classic science fiction about space travel and aliens and such. It’s clear Asimov thought deeply about those things.
Cover to the most recent edition of Nightfall and Other Stories by Isaac Asimov.
I’m reading Nightfall and Other Stories, an anthology of short science fiction & fantasy written by Isaac Asimov.
The stories in here hadn't previously been anthologized by Asimov and so they’re all stand alone stories, not part of any series he wrote. Each story has an intro by him.

Hey did anyone else have a dad who told you that “lightbulbs don’t emit light, they suck dark”?
My dad used to say that. It’s funny coming from him because he fixes electronics.
I ask because I guess some people believe it and think it‘s some kind of conspiracy.
