I think sometimes people assume that what people are objecting to about high difficulty is that it's frustrating and so they get moralistic about keeping your cool or something... but I think often it's objectionable just because repetition can be boring
Something I have realized from playing some really difficult games recently and managing to get zen about losing over and over is that difficulty doesn't automatically become fun if you overcome the frustration part--something can be very difficult and also very boring
