I don't think they made the humor in that game relatable to the West but the game play was fun. Goemon's Great Adventure attempted to make the humor relate to the West like Ebisumaru liking James Dean but still had crazy Japanese stuff like the phone line quest with Yae.

Lol ok I have a bunch of podcasts that I listen to but one you should listen to is Mortal Podkast. Basically a Mortal Kombat lore enthusiast tries to explain a single MK character's lore to a person who knows little to nothing about MK. It's funny plus it has scary moments lol.
