The DoD is spending billions to build a shield to destroy missiles launched against the U.S. At least four of the companies awarded contracts so far are owned by a private equity firm founded by billionaire turned Deputy Secretary of Defense Steve Feinberg.
For one, it fails to note that ChatGPT can make shit up wholesale. Second, that applies to factual claims. It doesnβt disclose that the AI is programmed with a high level of sychophancy. And itβs not clear it applies to non-factual statements.
I guess I disagree that that is enough of a warning.
Well thatβs the question isnβt it? DO AI companies regularly publish that their products make mistakes all the time? Because that has not been my experience. Itβs why I think a βfailure to warnβ theory could be viable.
I mean, yeah. This is what happens when you are the judge in your own case.
Sure. But we need cheaper interceptors. Because we NEED to stop the drones. But we only have so many missiles.
And then they can unleash their expensive missiles, knowing they wonβt be intercepted
JFC
Havenβt changed a bit.
And even if we were, at what cost? Using a $1M interceptor to take down a $5k drone is not a good trade off.
I spoke with two ICE watchers who lost their Global Entry after brushes with federal agents. Now an internal memo shows Customs and Border Protection is evaluating cases where people's Global Entry could be revoked based on "encounters" with its officers.

Absolutely. But Iβm going to tell myself thatβs why I didnβt place better with certain articles. π
Hope youβre enjoying your time in Seattle. Couldnβt make it out to the con this year.

This is bad on so many levels. But amongst the oldest of the old traditions of the sea is that you rescue survivors.
This is up there with guest right. You donβt mess with it.
Yeah, the Persians won that battle.
No. I'm a fan. I've got the DVDs and the RPGs and I probably drop way too many references to the show in my normal speech. But it is over, and it was a long time ago, and we have already let go. I don't want to see the 2020s version of Firefly. I want to see new things.
Optical illusion of a woman bent over some papers. Her sunglasses are pushed up and she is wearing a hair band so the top of her head looks exactly like a Muppet face
Sorry I know the world is in a terrible fix but I've been laughing at this for ten minutes now
Holy shit, this feels like a pretty significant statistic, no? I mean, we already know that the US government is run by mask-off white supremacist fascists, but goddamn
Yeah. At the Navy, we had to recertify every year. And after an βincidentβ we had to back it up with paperwork every 4. So we needed to provide a certificate of good standing to SOME bar, even if not the one where we lived.
BREAKING NYT:
Lindsey Halligan, the ex-U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia who brought criminal cases against Trump's enemies over the objections of career prosecutors, is under investigation by Florida's bar association, according to a letter the organization sent last month.
And of course Fetterman is already out saying heβll support Mullin.
Seems like a solution in search of a problem.
Ooo. That makes it even less clear that itβs unconstitutional. Iβd love to see the exam and a model answer at some point.
Gut level response here: The biggest issue is the Art V limit on messing with the Senate. But otherwise? Not sure it would be unconstitutional.
Turns out lawlessness is not a winning strategy. See you at Nuremberg 2.0
By a vote of 51-45, the #Senate did not invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R.7147, Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, 2026, upon reconsideration.
