ME2 is so smart because it recognizes that Shepard's initial arc is over (and the trilogy-long arc is still ongoing), so it instead focuses on the team and just knocks it out of the fucking park

also the devs figured out how to remove the JANK from the gameplay

Originally, I couldn't get into 2077. I tried so many times, and it just DIDN'T click. But then the 2.0 update came out, and something shifted. While still far from flawless, 2077 turned around so many of its flaws into a true gem of a game

Shocker, I like the best-selling western piece of media of all time. But seriously, Arthur Morgan is one of the best protagonists of all time, not just in gaming. And getting to experience his story and influence it WHILE ALSO getting to roam 1898 America? Can't ask for a more lively time.

Life is Strange is another excellent demonstration of what this art form is capable of. Weaving the mechanical freedom of being able to reverse decisions in a narrative-focused game with the narrative of a teenager with time travel powers... 10/10.

Skyrim may be the game I want to wander around and get lost in, but Oblivion is the game I return to time and time again. The gorgeous music, the simple-but-well-told story, the excellent guild quests... just get the remaster and get lost in Cyrodil.

Firewatch is proof of just what this art form is capable of producing. You, a radio, your boss, and the Shoshone. It may only be 4 hours, but those 4 hours are seared onto my soul.

New Vegas. It's no surprise. I'm a very open fan of Obsidian's work and this is the game that did it. It's a western, it's post-apocalyptic, it's the best damn Fallout game ever made and honestly the best damn game ever made, plus mods!
