New article out in @socmovstudies.bsky.social. Through fieldwork within the French Yellow vest movement, I explore how women frontline workers politicize their workplace conditions during Covid-19 outside labor union channels, resulting in heightened mistrust and withdrawal from state institutions.
Holy fucking shit this is awesome use this now

Barely an hour ago, Palestinian journalist Anas Al-Sharif warned us all:
โIf this madness doesnโt end, Gaza will be reduced to ruins, its peopleโs voices silenced, their faces erased โ and history will remember you as silent witnesses to a genocide you chose not to stop.โ
Israel just killed him.
Someone on here compared AI produced material as "digital asbestos " which in a few decades' time we will have to work out how to eradicate from the fabric of research.
Hi and thank you!
r/ChatGPT u/Kjfitz โข 1h The "Enshittification" has arrived News I asked ChatGPT about the impact of the current tarrifs on inventories over the next few months. It returned a long list of links to toiletries I might want to buy. l asked it why it did that. It replied: "As of April 28, 2025, OpenAl introduced new shopping features to ChatGPT, enhancing its capabilities to provide product recommendations complete with images, reviews, and direct purchase links. These features are available to all users, including those on Free, Plus, and Pro tiers, and even to users not logged in. The recommendations are generated organically, without paid advertisements or commission-based incentives, relying instead on structured metadata from third-party sources such as pricing, product descriptions, and reviews. This update aims to offer a more personalized and streamlined shopping experience directly within the ChatGPT interface, allowing users to explore products across various categories like fashion, beauty, electronics, and home goods. If you have any specific preferences or need tailored recommendations, feel free to let me know!"

Very stoked to see the first article from my PhD project out open access in Gender & Society. Based on fieldwork in the Yellow vest movement, I explore the critical leadership work that is demanded to uphold so-called horizontal social movements.

The refusal to accept leaders masks the work demanded to maintain flat structures.
I argue that while horizontal organizing opens up possibilities for women, it is also a smokescreen for movement participants to reproduce gendered expectations of women to do a third shift in organizing.
