This is a statement about this weekend issued by a group of Cedar Riverside community leaders including elected officials, rapid responders, community organizations and residents: A group of racist and anti-Muslim agitators may be coming to Cedar Riverside on Saturday Jan 17th. Their goal is to create chaos and cause violence in our community. There will also be community patrollers in yellow vests, religious leaders in orange vests, the sheriff and MPD monitoring and responding to potential threats. What You Should Do: If you are a member of the Cedar Riverside Community • Do not be afraid. • Live your life as usual. • If you see the protest or offensive behavior, do not engage, argue, confront or respond. • Do not engage in conversations with strangers, people videorecording, or the media. • If you have any concerns, approach any patroller or call 911. If you are not a Cedar Riverside Community Member • No protest inside of Cedar Riverside is needed, wanted, or should happen. • If you would like to aid or volunteer, contact your local neighborhood Rapid Response.

I have a lengthy video of a long chase yesterday, including one maniacal e-bike rider who was absolutely giving the ICE Wagoneers hell. They’d try to lose us in traffic but the bike didn’t care about traffic
Life before moving into the city felt like work, eat, sleep and nothing else. Now I can go out and see my neighbors walking around. I am able to talk about life and spend more time with actual people. I'm not online bickering doing nothing.
Since moving to Minneapolis, I’ve really noticed the sheer sense of community. After spending most of my life in the suburbs, it was a huge change, and I think it shapes how people see politics. I believe a regime we've seen only works because of the lack of community in the suburbs.
I got to take a ride recently before it officially closes @ January 4th, 2026!
It is quite sad to see this line go, as it was never given a full chance.

Now: The Northstar service is set to end next month and be replaced with bus service. The train sets are expected to be leased to Amtrak, and there is discussion about Amtrak also taking over the Big Lake maintenance facility.

2014: On‑time performance began to collapse. Sharing tracks with heavy freight traffic resulted in major delays, reducing reliability to around 65%. (This also impacted Amtrak’s Empire Builder.)
