TLDR they're scared that women can ball and double scared that the existence of trans people might prove it

2 is really some combo of a genuine belief and a sense of threat at the notion that women might be able to compete, even physically, with men or AMAB people. Trans women or even trans girls like BPJ being allowed to compete with women on equal footing is deeply destabilizing to the patriarchy

1 is more obvious: they want to push trans people out of public life altogether

2 is a little more hidden, but revealed by the "fairness" claims: they think men (which they understand as anyone AMAB) are inherently superior to women in all respects

This case is really revealing when it comes to the right's real motives around this issue. This all started as an entry point to start pushing back the enormous gains LGBT people have made in the last 30 years but it's come to center on two things, which we see clearly in WV v B.P.J....

For anyone who hasn't read about the WV case the Supreme Court is hearing arguments on today: the plaintiff is a trans girl who was 11 when she sued and was already on puberty blockers. There's no argument other than insane 19th century-style sexism that she has a competitive advantage vs cis girls
