A memorable #SOTA activation of GW/NW-040 "Tal y Fan" in North Wales with a sensational cloud inversion! ☀️☁️ Plenty of contacts on 10-40 metres with my KX2 (10 watts) including a Summit to Summit with Fabio IK2LEY/P in Switzerland and KD1CT in New Hampshire (USA). #hamr #sota #portableops
No doubt it helped a tiny bit, but if you zoom in on the tripod you can just make out the long radial that comes with the 40m extension coil. The usual AX1 ground wire is also connected to the radio chassis.
