that's really nice to hear, thank you!
that's really nice to hear, thank you!
Jen's writing does not have much in common with Nabokov, but she once read that he wrote his novels on index cards while sitting in his parked car and thought that sounded good. in jeneral her process is very analogue (up until Huw scans the week's drafts with his phone In Case Of Loss)
a two-panel comic. a sea lion woman sits in the cab of a parked van in a winter field, writing on an index card resting on a clipboard resting on the steering wheel, with books and papers on the passenger seat. her sheep husband then appears in the window offering her a mug of tea
is it tea time yet? ... well yeah? always?
late to this but it's good! Xฤซn does not waste your time. (not the biggest point but the mixed media mention makes me excited to do mixed media again)
The smart draught, not understanding how they're losing to me. Me, who's been eating the cards when they're not looking.
a limited-palette drawing of a yinglet and a sheeptaur. they have just begun a game of gin rummy; the yinglet looks pleased and a little smug as they say 'gin!' and the sheeptaur exasperatedly responds 'HOW'
why did i decide to play cards with myself, they get all the luck
(our good fortune to have yinglets is thanks to Valsalia!)
a quotation from the late J Nash's 'The Record Straight About My Game': 'To emotionpiXLanalyzine Thank you for the eight-page feature examining the strangely orange sequence in my game. This was caused by my accidentally selecting an unsuitable palette and I have now corrected the error.'
a drawing (in a restricted palette) of a poodle woman sitting on a tram and looking down into the screen of a camera
reviewing this morning's footage on the tram home
bust and full-length drawings of a middle-aged sheeptaur person. their lower body is that of a stocky, grey-wooled sheep. their upper body is humanoid and dressed in an oversized lilac sweater. they have a sheep's head with pale fur and a single horn which curls around their right ear; more grey wool encircles their neck and forms a shoulder-length hairdo with thin multicoloured streaks
sheeptaursona! not feeling particularly harelike of late (or not much liking my harelike traits) so trying on the soft woolly thing to see if it fits better. and the extra legs thing
A cartoon drawing of two anthropomorphic wolves dancing on a raised, tiled floor. Behind them, two video projection screens show nearly identical silhouette images of a vaguely sisyphean scene of a figure pushing a rock up a mountain. The two wolves dance with hands held up in front of them, lightly cupped as if they are holding a rounded object. Behind then and below the video screens, a line of seated audience members meet the gaze of you, the viewer, with a mixture of concern, surprise, understanding, and alarm. Text at the bottom of the image reads a line from the Randy Crawford song I Have Ev'rything but You: "I have my life worked out so well, I fool myself sometimes."
a screenshot of a MacOS Terminal. i've run the script daily-project-id.sh (which generates the three-character codes i name my projects with), and it's responded with 'Daily id *uwu* copied to clipboard!'
it's a special day

a giant fox posing by a diner themed after a table and chairs, resting back against the chair as a regular size bunny enters the door

foxes make for excellent roadside attractions <3
"Two houses, boff similar in dignity, (In fair Valsal'a, where we set ziss scene), From old grudges break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forff the deadly loins of zhese two foes, A pair of mixed-up lovers take their life; Whose misadventured misery overfrows Doff wiff deir deaff bury zheir parents' strife. Zee scary pazzage of zheir deaff-marked love, And zee going-on offa parents' rage, Which, but zha children's end, nuffing could remove, Is now zee two hours' show of our stage; An' which, if you wiff patient ears lissen, What here shall miss, our efforts strive t'pleasen."

yerf was big for me too. (at one point 'getting onto yerf' was a life goal.) safe enough not to scare off a very sheltered kid, curated enough that i'd regularly see something that wowed me and made me think this furry thing had exciting possibilities
searched bsky for just this. iirc last time she took a hiatus her publishers communicated it pretty poorly, so i hope it's just that and she's okay, but sending my well-wishes anyway. nu Nancy is a gem
a lesson from these was that constructing every character's head over a sphere, as i have been doing, homogenises designs too much; freehanding my way to the actual shape of the animal's head is uncomfortable but the results are so much more distinctiveness
a sunset-coloured sketch of a hare woman, a poodle woman and their son, a hare boy. he is lifting himself over a railing to look at a view of hills behind a lake, as they link hands behind him and look lovingly at each other
sketches of a rat woman, at several levels of irritability, in a blue shirt, diamond-pattern sweater vest, jeans and a trucker cap, plus her equipment: an orange electric guitar and a large Teal-brand amplifier and cabinet
sketches of a sheep person with long wavy wool and a single horn around their left ear, wearing a couple of kinds of skirt, plus a small 1990s hatchback car with a similarly-shaped nose
sketches of a donkey man and a wolf man, talking together, walking together and cuddling
sketches from this week:
- a good-future Ida, Phaedra and offspring
- Jean and her important equipment
- some more oviform Moults (plus a car with a similar nose, let's call it a Citoyen MX)
- and some Faisals and Vitalys
(timelapse of the foregoing!)
a sketch page of Alex the skunk man and Maura the stoat woman. Alex assures his employee Phaedra 'I wouldn't do that. I'm not a total asshole. ... I'm only as much of an asshole as being a boss under capitalism entails,' which she takes very warily. Maura is having difficulty eating something at a restaurant, prompting Alex to ask whether she's okay; the meal receives a sub-verbal three thumbs down from her
sure, Alex, that's the way to put your team at ease
and Maura isn't choking, this just doesn't meet her high standards for food (and the world is going to hear about it in her Saturday review)
(quote spackle because i messed up the threading!)
a page of sketches of an opossum woman and a fox woman in various moods and scales, including the former staring at a large abstract canvas that the latter has painted and is expatiating about
(and finally)
i find opossums weirdly hard to draw but i think Edith is getting there. and Sibyl has always been there
a page of sketches, heads and full-body. half are of a sheep-taur person, including putting a can in the recycling and working (in loaf position) at a computer; the other half are of a yinglet, including humming to themself as they walk about and hiding poorly behind a rock while thinking 'behind zhis zhey never shall see me'
(home stretch)
more sheepsona and yingletsona thorts
a page of sketches, heads and full-body, of a tall and glamorous Siamese cat woman and a short and smart Cavalier King Charles spaniel man
Dinah and Stephen in party gear, recording their eleven-listener recreational podcast, and Gameing (Stephen's decades of experience knocked flat by Dinah's intense competitiveness)
a page of sketches, heads and full-body, of a small pigeon woman and a big horse woman
i gave Prue a bit more fancy fluff so she doesn't look so much like Tintin; Matilda is reading Quaker Faith and Practice (qfp.quaker.org.uk) to better understand what her wife is about spiritually
a page of sketches, heads and full-body, of a sturdy sheep man and a round sea lion woman
they're lovers, and that is a fact. Jen and Huw
