Not aware of any progress on the bridges besides Franklin, unfortunately.
The Bladensburg rail underpass just south of QC is also a disaster waiting to happen if folks are taking additional swings at this problem today.

I noted when I called that if DDOT is handling sidewalks, they should be sure to handle bike lanes on Franklin and Monroe too. For many reasons, including keeping bikes and scooters off the sidewalk.
I just called and helped craft a detailed memo on the topic for escalation, covering bike lanes and sidewalks on the list of bridges and the DDOT/DPW conflict.
Is there anything folks can do to push this along? 9th St bridge, QC, Taylor, Monroe, Franklin are all pretty bad on sidewalks (and bike lanes where applicable) and they’re major points of failure in the network obviously.

We are being governed by the most corrupt, self-serving President this country has ever seen. DC has borne the brunt because we are not a state. The attempt to seize control of DC's public golf courses is another (small) example of how this harms regular people in DC and nationwide
Don’t get me wrong; I have my gripes. Especially around ZC 24-11 and their failure to create an MU-PDR zoning form before this case came up.
Sometimes they submit substantive applications! They’re upzoning Cleveland Park right now.

This is good, but there should be triggers for the Office of Planning to apply for Map Amendments to the Zoning Commission to implement any FLUM changes, or they won’t do anything.
To be clear, it’s three successive processes inside of 11 months:
- Council picks a successor by Council vote (never happened to process unclear)
- Special Election (likely earlier than the June primary, and likely not RCV as a result)
- General Election, two-winner RCV w/the primary winners

The US isn’t in great shape. DC should do less bad than the US average on traffic violence, on new home construction, on basic services, on taking care of all residents. So… let’s do any of that instead of silly stuff.
It’s fine to hold DC to a higher standard than the 50 US cities with higher crime rates. I do it all the time! I just also try to be serious about solutions. We need our judicial and prosecutorial vacancies filled.

As do I, but we both have 2023-era Abounds that got one incremental upgrade and then one major upgrade since. I’d say the current bikes in this market segment have more to do with each other than with our relics.
