Norfolk CC ignored warnings, wasted £56M of public funds, and failed to plan a viable Plan B for the Western Link.

Blaming bats & Natural England is deflection. We demand accountability & resignations. Norfolk deserves better—enough is enough.

Pressure mounts over future of multi-million-pound road and rail schemes A new dossier making the case for millions of pounds to be committed to two major Norfolk road schemes has been sent to the government.

Norfolk deserves better. With NWL planning withdrawn & likely binned, it’s time to move past outdated, costly road schemes. David Pett says, “Transport East's road focus is naive & dated. Norfolk needs sustainable, integrated transport for real growth. #StopWensumLink

Traffic issues in Norfolk aren't just west of Norwich—they impact us all. We need a county-wide plan that improves all roads, boosts public transport, and aligns transport with planning. Let's prioritise fair, sustainable solutions for everyone. #NorfolkTransport #BetterPlanning

Talks with government over fate of beleaguered Norwich Western Link road begin Talks have started between Norfolk County Council and the government about the future of the beleaguered £274m Norwich Western Link road.

We call for a Plan B to tackle congestion west of Norwich—one that prioritises economic sense & environmental care. Protecting the River Wensum SAC & species like barbastelle bats must be central. Let's rethink, reset, & find smarter, sustainable solutions.

Great sense here www.facebook.com/reel/1150485... from @steffanaquarone.bsky.social

We need very different leadership in Norfolk & Suffolk, or devolution will only keep those who made the mess in power

The damage caused by this road construction is tragic, but it’s nothing compared to the destruction the Norwich Western Link would bring—devastating trees, countryside, River Wensum SAC and wildlife. Once lost, nature doesn’t come back. #StopNWLink #SaveOurEnvironment

Further reasons for RESIGNATIONS as Norfolk CC take a budget risk with over £30m when the odds are very much stacked against the Govt agreeing the NWL road

We stand with John Allaway in exposing NCC’s failures on the NWL project. Flawed surveys, negligence, and deceit have destroyed trust. We demand Cllr. Mason Billig resign immediately. #StopWensumLink #Accountability #EnvironmentalProtection

Norfolk County Council blaming bats for the NWL fiasco is absurd. This project failed due to mismanagement, zero economic justification, and reckless environmental harm. Taxpayers deserve accountability, not excuses. Norfolk needs leadership that prioritizes people, sustainability, and transparency.

Calls to halt massive housing development after road link scheme dropped Councillors are calling for the Marriott's Park housing development, near Thorpe Marriott, to stop after plans for the Western Link were withdrawn.

The councillors know Marriott's Park was never tied to the NWL. Linking the two is a desperate move to revive a scrapped road project. This isn’t about housing or traffic—it’s about clinging to a failed plan.

The Prime minister saying that newts and bats cannot be allowed to get in the way of providing the housing, roads and hospitals that this country needs shows a fundamental failure to understand the problems with the planning system and how they originate from austerity.

Legal challenges to UK infrastructure projects to be blocked in push for growth Keir Starmer hopes his plan to ‘take the brakes off Britain’ will send a message to business to build more

More planning nonsense from the government.

- people have a democratic right to a say about land use change
- this will lead to worse outcomes environmentally & ecologically
- endless economic growth is a dubious goal in a world where we are hitting limits

Some good news on an otherwise bleak day. I’ve been campaigning in various ways for about six years, maybe more, against this road. It has, at times, been exhausting, but I have also found purpose through it and met the most inspiring people. It’s probably not over yet, but for now, some relief!

The council like to claim they were blindsided by Natural England last year over the Barbastelle Bats, but they have been warned for years, by a variety of experts, concerned landowners, and Natural England.

At last! The cost implications would be huge if Norfolk County Council presses on with this project. A new planning application would mean more surveys and cost. This project should never have reached planning stage to begin with!

This is very good news. Another major set back for this destructive project.

Many reasons (climate, cost) why it should not proceed.

Most of all a rare and small species has been protected in a unique environment against almost inevitable local extinction.

Long live the barbastelle bat
