A notepad++ window: "A game where you have seven samurai to assign to various places. The samurai have traits (Smart, Fat, Depressed, Master Swordsman, whatver) and the places are things like The Watchtower, Guarding The Peasants, Patrol Duty. You have fewer samurai than assignments. Your goal is... NOT to keep everyone alive, boring, have you never seen a samurai movie? Your goal is to make sure they have _narratively satisfying moments_ including deaths. Like, did you put the Master Swordsman in the watchtower, away from the action? He is damned unsatisfied to be killed by arrows at the start of the raid. Arrange for him to be guarding the peasants from three dudes with spears at the very end of the game/sunrise? That's COOL you get a bunch of points. Possibly a system of mood? Like if the Cheerful one is killed first it gives some "that's really depressing!" negative modifier to scenes around it, but if the enemy sneak in because the fat guy is away from his post raiding the kitchen, that adds a Comedic tone to scenes around it and makes it harder to die, which is great for some setups and bad for others?"

Yeah, in spite of my intense desire to get back into stuff post-Nextfest, this is not going to be how I do it. Back to bed for a while, no stream this evening.

Tonight's stream ... may not happen. Woke up with a sore throat and while it's receding with hydration, if it's still bad around showtime I'll likely call the whole thing off. I'm not the kind of idiot to perform sick. Otherwise, Hinterberg continues at 9:30 PM I suppose.

Not in a way I understand.

During late beta, one of the devs spent days looking at my Qud crashlogs for my 'let's see how many hands i can fit on this character and how deep I can dig' run where I was blowing past a 2 GB memory limit until the game choked and died. Believe them when it comes to addressing performance.
