I try to do both!

I was asked suddenly if I could appear wearing the Qifrey cloak for the video. It was nerve-wracking to stand in front of Motomura-san, but great fun.

I've actually worn it several times to film reference for Qifrey for the show!

Theme: Ornate. A wolf-like person in a ragged brown cloak is sitting on the ground, with scrapes and blood. In front of the creatures lies an ornate sword, most likely stolen. Looming down over this scene are shadows of 3 people, most likely the owner(s) of the sword.

Theme: Arctic. In overcast snowy weather, a woman is smoking while watching something far away. In her hooded blue down jacket, she leans on a shovel. Behind her, perching on another shovel, is parka-wearing human with hoofs and demon wings.

Theme: Skeletal. In a low-angle composition. A slime-woman has opened the chest area of her coat, revealing her body of slime, as well as a ribcage within. On either side of her, two green flame-skulls are hovering.

Theme: Lesson. A wolf-man looms over a boy holding a book. The wolf-man is pointing at the book and it looks as if they are conversing. The wolf is wearing a purple robe, and the boy is wearing a cloak with an ornate shoulder-covering piece.

Theme: Rowdy. I female giant is sitting on a big flat rock the size of a small house. On the same rock sits 2 other normal-sized people, one playing a lute, and another listening to whatever is going on. The giant waves to a person in the foreground.

Theme: Inferno. I low-angled shot of a woman in a dark environment. All around her flames are flaring up from the ground. She wears a burgundy red coat, thigh high black boots which reflects the flame, and her blonde hair is braided into two long braids. She looks around her in an alerted way.

Theme: Onion. Two brightly colored people with onion heads. The one facing the camera has a big cut in their head, where layers of onion are tilted out, as about to fall. The other onion-person is leaning in in worry.

Theme: Vacant. In a grayscale illustration, a woman looks over her shoulder at the camera, with a vacant expression.

Theme: Sweep. A low angle illustration, looking up at a maid sitting on a garden wall. She wears a long dark dress with a white apron. She is looking up at a blue sky with some trees in the background. Leaning on the wall beside her is a broom.

Theme: Shredded. In a play on words, this illustration depicts a muscular (shredded) man with a shredded shirt on. The shirt seems to be shredded by some sort of projectile hitting the man, thus resulting in his clothing getting shredded to pieces. His face is dark with emotion, and behind him, some ominous dark aura is emanating.

Theme: Rugged. This illustration depicts a beaming young girl with animal ears showing off her big, rugged leather gloves to another girl with animal ears. As I followed the "official" inktober themes, I misread "Ragged" as "rugged"...

Theme: Blast. A young girl is in the air, leaning backwards into her backpack. The backpack is similar to the "IMMA FIRIN' MAH LASER!" meme from days of yore.

Theme: Mustache. A knight with a comically simple fantasy armour comprised of round pieces, a simple helmet with no visor. He leans on a sword whilst holding the other hand on his hips. Around him, and resting on him are several butterflies.

Theme: Deer. A blonde woman with red-rimmed glasses holds her hand up to the side of her face in an antler-like fashion.

Theme: Starfish. A fish-like humanoid dressed in stereotypical ninja-overalls with a facemask throws a starfish at the camera.

Theme: Reckless. A female warrior dressed in hides is bloodies from a battle. She is in a battle-ready stance, and an object at high speed travels towards her face as she glances at it in either terror or anger.

There is no ethical use of Gen-AI in it's current form, I just dont understand how people who enjoy media in any form can form the opinion that Gen-AI in any form is morally correct.

Outside of us two, I don't know anyone either. Assume we will see more scandinavians soon though, as socials has made animation/anime so much more approachable!

As far as I know, I'm the first Norwegian to work in the anime industry, and that is kind of a crazy thing for me. The only other I am aware of, is that Ole Løken worked on Henry Thurlow's One Piece episode a few years ago.

There are so many people at Mt Takao, that if you go in the weekend, at around 11-13 o'clock, you will not be walking alone!
My favorite route is route 6, but route 1 has the most people if you're nervous...!

Yesterday's "official" inktober theme was "ragged". I misread it as "rugged", and ended up drawing something completely different... oh well.

Finding out my older brother is an AI stan really shook something in me.
For someone who is not a creative, its so hard to express how the act of creating is important, not only the result/product.

This is why I've seriously started disliking the word "content" when it comes to media.

For 2025 I am trying to reclaim my motivation to draw.
Of course, I draw every day, all day at work. Its when I get home, the will to draw anything for myself, that I feel the struggle. At the very least, 1 finished illustration every month, with supplementing sketches and roughs.

In Tales from Earthsea's opening, when Arren stabs his father (the king), and from the force of impact, the pearls on the brooch of the kings' cloak rattles.
I love the sound of those rattling pearls, man.

... so that you're basically sitting with your butt cheeks, and not your tailbone. It really reduces the pain you can get in your tailbone from sitting long hours.
Not sure if these are readily available outside of Japan, and may mess with the effectiveness of your chairs ergonomics, but they work!

They may defeat the effectiveness of ergonomic chairs, as they raise you up a bit, but maybe consider office chair cushions for people with haemorrhoids? Now hear me out:
I fortunately don't suffer from it, but I have a skinny butt, so my tailbone also suffers a lot. The cushions have open backs ...

"Wave wave" would probably be better.
Swish is more used for a single action, and movements with purpose, and not just repeating motion.

単純に「Wave Wave」の方がいいかと思います。
「Swish」は一回だけの動き、目的のある動く（ハリーポッターの杖を振り回すとき）など。手の振には見たことがないと思います。

Oh lol... For the new "Dondon" software thing. We had "Shu" (the tech dude) visiting our studio last year, trying to get feedback on this AI inbetween thing from animators here.
I find that pretty funny.

I also find it dystopian.

Yeah, it seems like a lot of adults are completely fine with it.
I'm lucky because I am in a sphere of people who likes 2D animation (uses sakugabooru etc), but just a quick look on Facebook is shocking.
I really hope public perception, copyright laws and training set regulations improves.

It really sucks that consumers really does not care about ethics, quality, or the people behind the "content" they "consume".

Gaping slovenly, they just wait for some algorithm to shove low-effort shit down their gullets, they consume anything as long as the visuals are passable.

I won't go off on how "American Consumerism Bad", but how any media created is now viewed as "content" to be "consumed", leads to people not really caring about the quality of said "product". Especially true for animation. If story is good, the quality of the animation doesn't matter to mass crowds.
