This might be the best hair I’ve ever embroidered and I loved working with this limited palette.

A warm-grey stone with a portrait of a nightjar painted on it. Behind the nightjar is a full moon. A sprig of foliage reaches in from the left-hand-side. Around the edge of the stone are some other names for the nightjar, such as: evechur, gobble rach and Jenny spinner.

An original digital illustration by Loadofolbobbins of a powerful, larger than life woman of the sea, holding aloft an old sailing galleon in, her right arm, while fork lightning strikes around it. In the top right of the image behind the woman the moon is partly shown shining luminously into the night sky. The woman herself is stood to the right of the image, just her upper torso, head and right arm on show. She has East Asian ancestry and her long black hairs is fanning out behind her, as if blown by the wind, the moonlight only just highlighting the edges. Her eyes are closed and her face is turned to the right and slightly raised, as if basking in the light and her own power. She is partly covered in rich orange corals and sea fans which almost form a lacy bodice. The only other clothing she has is a loose blue silk sleeve draped over her right elbow which flows down the image and transforms in to the sea. The sea itself is an abstract series of swirls in different blues with misty white foam curls.

Going for something completely different for day 12 of #ArtAdventCalendar done as part of a challenge from @trueref.bsky.social (a great place to get amazing reference images from). I really let my imagination run wild with this one and had a good old creative play!

Today is Iberian Lynx day - these adorable cats were once critically endangered but were recently taken off that list and now there are over 1700 in the wild. Thanks to the breeding efforts of conservation groups!
