Nancy by Ernie Bushmiller. First panel, Nancy talking to a logger sawing a tree and pointing to a carved piece of trunk. Nancy: Can I have that piece? My boy friend carved it. Logger: Sure. Second panel, Nancy is watching the log burn in the fire place. Nancy: I'm mad at him.
Every once in awhile I think about this Nancy comic and it makes me laugh every single time. Absolute perfection.
I don't know, maybe it's because I'm a big Carl Sagan fan but I'm super dismayed out how many people these days seem to think that Nuclear Weapons are fine. And not, you know, a completely insane way for us all to live.

Libraries will in the end become cities, said Leibniz.
Ideas too are a life and a world.
Such people do not really defend Christianity, but they do let Christianity defend them.
Most propagators or a faith defend their propositions, not because they are convinced of their truth, but because they once asserted they were true.

--so we said to the somewhat: Be born--
& the shadow kept arriving in segments,
cold currents pushed minerals
up from the sea floor, up through
coral & labels of Diet Coke blame shame
bottles down there--
it is so much work to appear!

for #smallpoemsunday, an Anne Sexton poem and a visual poem of mine. I put them alongside each other because they both start, in some way, with Walden. Mine (a Walden erasure) was published in @moistpoetryjournal.bsky.social last year.
I hope you are well.
